In these troubled times

Things are peculiar and strange in these troubled days,
We all need to look to ourselves and change our ways,
Remember there others not as fortunate may be,
As those going through their lives like you and me,
The lonely, infirm, the person next door,
May not be able to open their front door,
If we all take a look in the mirror today,
And if all we do is think and say,
What can I do to help another, what difference can I make,
What decisions I think about before I take,
If that means stay in, or when shopping take only what you need,
You are playing a pivotal part indeed,
If we all take a moment, think and act,
It's a simple mindset and here's the fact,
If we all pull together and for the common good,
In days to come we can say we stood,
For all that's right and we put others first,
And the tide of fear and uncertainty was reversed,
Through simple acts of kindness, a smile, a phone call, a deed,
We will all be safer and it will be a better world indeed.

In these troubled times

We are all in uncharted waters, life is so different and changed,
We fear for ourselves and loved ones, but one thing unchanged,
That being our ability ,to meet disaster with resolve,
To meet what comes from this adversity and what will evolve,
We live in hope that a more caring society will ensue,
Because of what we do, me and you,
We go back to the basics, what really counts,
No matter what adversity we will all renounce,
Our past lives of indifference and disregard,
To take a turn and choose a new start, a blank card,
To cherish the real things in life, what really counts,
Not how much money we have, or possession amounts,
Look to our heroes that risk life each day,
In the NHS and all who are there for us so that we all may,
Have someone to turn to in our hour of need,
Where in normal times we may not heed,
What we have, what counts what really matters,
As life has changed and for some in tatters,
Have faith in what's real, what you really believe,
Keep safe and take stock in what we can together achieve,
Use common sense, stay safe don' t revert to the normal,
In these times of strife that are abnormal,
We all have a duty, a true obligation,
To keep on , not to falter For the duration,
Only then can we as one beat this foe,
In that we can deliver a defeating blow,
To this attrition, this unrelenting adversary,
This terrible thing that is so contrary,
It is necessary so important that we all strive,
To keep our distance to keep alive,
Apart we may be, and trials we face,
But that brings us together to win this race,
Stay safe, keep focused and on with the fight,
Together we will succeed, you know it's right.
