Limited Space Collections

On this months 'Those Old Fossils' vintage roundtable podcast by Generation Skywalker, we discussed collecting and having limited space to display these collections. In UK and Europe in particular space is very limited for many. So how do you display your collections if that is that case? Have you used imagination? made creative ways of using alcoves? How do you display say paperwork for example? Badges? Stationary? Loose runs? Do you purely have a single shelf for your collection? Whatever it is we want to see it, we want to celebrate it, the more innovative the better. We'll be returning to this topic next month and want to see as many collection displays as possible in that time.

And for one lucky participant chosen randomly, a totally unique prize, so just by showing us you will automatically be entered into the draw for the surprise item.

Get those cameras out and snap away and share!!!

Brilliant post, here is the little corner of my humble bungalow, thanks to my misses Lisa.

Love it mate, really utilised the space you have.

Do you sell off and buy different stuff or is it a complete collection?

I'm currently only allowing myself one shelf of a cabinet! Only just starting with vintage toys after a 20 year break...since then I've taken up all the spare room in my home office with larger items!

I posted this just after Christmas Stu but I designed it specifically to manage the small space I have.

It's a complete collection, still got a fair bit to add to as well. Just waiting for my lad to move out so we can turn his room into a chill out/collectables room.

I also collect breweriana which is all in the garage, so would like to get my whisky water jugs and ashtrays etc out on proper display.

Great set up Russ but that radiator position would give me nightmares!

I can see what you mean 🤣🤣 I do have it on frost guard or off most of the time as we have a log burner that belts out some heat when it's a big chilly.

Love your set up, well impressed 😎👌

Just read through your old thread and the Bossk thing made me chuckle 🤣🤣🤣

Stunning mate, thanks for sharing, loved the costumes, once my room is properly sorted I'm going to be so tempted by those. Do you cosplay or are they purely for display?

Oh I remember this post fondly, so creative, in fact I'm glad you've given this a lift up the threads as had forgotten about it and tempted to try something similar, might pick your brains.

Here's my offering. This is the only display space I have and I don't have any storage space, to be fair I'm not one for having a ton of stuff boxed up anyway.
On the top is my boys Legacy Falcon and my unused contents Warhammer from around 1993/5 ish. I try to have a mix of stuff and I'm definitely not a completist.

Pretty much everything on this shelf has a story or connection to childhood or adult collecting friends

It has the one Star Wars item I have from my childhood, the hardback novel tucked behind the Domark games. Those games were fantastic on the Spectrum, I used to borrow them from my Uncle and play them for hours.
The Assault on Hoth is another childhood favourite, this example is still sealed. My childhood one came from discount food store KwikSave in around 92/93.
ScruffyLookingNH was kind enough to send me the period personalised Dave Prowse autograph.
It also has my only pre-production related items, the colour key and proof card from the ROTJ Topps line.

The next shelf shows my remaining obsession with KayBee overstock items- in this case a lovely Trilogo pairing of Bossk and R5-D4. You can also see one of two cast&crew caps, this one was obtained from the 2nd assistant director of Solo.

This is where things get controversial on a Star Wars forum....as you can see I have a soft spot for Star Trex TNG. The Lego set is from childhood, recently retrieved from my parents house and also the second cast&crew cap.

On the last two shelves I've gone totally off-piste with some Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones, die cast, MOTU and Dreamcast.

Mostly display although they have had a couple of outings! I'll be doing shows with R2 when I finish building him.

I love collecting the stuff, especially as we live near Mansfield, Kimberley and Nottingham, all 3 were major brewing areas. Also like the cigarette and cigar whiskey water jugs as they are getting rarer. The back half of my garage is a mini pub with a bar and pumps etc, little bit of fun to put together 🍺🥃

Also had to dust my Army so its very small ATM. Most in a bag, also an example of how much room was taken up when we moved.
