I bought this reseal recently, it's partially resealed and has some dirty marks which look like sellotape residue. My initial plan was to live with the marks but I'm wondering if there is a way to remove them. I don't want to damage it in anyway, what do you think?

Lovely :D

Glue gone or similar may work but could have a detrimental effect on the seal? Palifan and or Michael Sith might know?

I have had great success using surgical spirit and gently rubbing areas of dried up tape with a cotton bud (i.e a cotton bud dipped in surgical spirit. Don't pour surgical spirit over your card! :-D). As with any liquid applied to paper, do NOT rub too hard or you will start to lift the ink / litho from the card, so go slowly and constantly check to make sure your cotton buds (change them frequently) are only lifting off the tape residue and not ink / colour from the cardback.

Here's a Greedo card before and after I used this process:

Best of luck!

You could try a small amount of lighter fluid on a piece of kitchen roll and try it on a small corner slowly going around the residue.

I have used this method on half torn price stickers on mocs and it gets the remander of the sticker and residue off without damage.

I'd say carl is right to go with Goo Gone for this or even the old trusty lighter fluid. As long as you're apply any of these solvents onto areas on the card back that are shiny you shouldn't have a problem with it. The liquid will then sit on the top surface and not soak into the card but I would try butting some lighter fluid onto a cotton bud or tissue/paper towel and then gently rubbing it into the effected areas. Goo Gone can be applied directly onto the card back but just go steady with it.

I have cleaned up these kinds of stains before with lighter fluid although it took a while and I may have even scraped the top surface lightly with my scalpel but you really do have to go careful with that method so that you don't damage the card back.

Some other members might have another way to go with this which would be interesting to hear but It's looks to be a great reseal though and hopefully you can improve the look even more. Now you just need a V shaped footer for it to get it look 100% :D

Firstly that's a Beuty reseal mate congratulations 8)

If you use lighter fluid or any chemical base, s all have said very tiny amounts and work gently and quickly to ensure that the liquid evapourates as you work, and doesn't pool or soak

As Ian says, I have gently scraped as well, but gently is the key word

Also if using glue gone, or lighter fluid very close to the bubble seal, remember this may leak into the seal and lift the edges

It's all about patience and working on it for s hort period then going back to it a few days after, that way you get the best results

Good luck :D
