Original Luke
Stormtrooper
Darth Vader
Tusken Raider
Boba Fett

I think the first 12 have the greatest memories for me, and I still remember waiting and waiting for Boba fett to be released, it seemed like forever after the first ads for him.
Still have my original figures, well the ones that survived, and they are in hideous condition, missing feet and allsorts...

That sounds familiar!!

There is certainly something about the first 12. Not the greatest sculpts, pr paint jobs, but is there was one out of all the waves I would want to keep it would be the first 12. 8)

I still can't remember whether I saw the film first or the toys back in the 70's.

Being trying to rack my brains. But i can remember the first time I saw the figures. I think it was a chewie R2 Luke and maybe even a ben and leia. My friend a few doors up the road had them.

Does anyone know the difference in time between when the film was first released and when the first figures were in the Shops in the UK?

I got a few memories of this whole time. Trying to piece together some kind of likely time scale.

Ive always been certain I saw the film first.

I can remember bugging my mum for the figures and not being able to find them for a while.

She remembers it even better than me...

Hmm it's pretty difficult to narrow down to just 5.

Off the top of my head I would go with

1. Luke Jedi :)
2. Vader
3. Boba Fett
4. Royal Guard (One of the first figures I picked up that got me started back into vintage)
5. Stormtrooper

hmm, top five as a kid....now I hadn't considered that there'd be any difference, but I guess there would be.

Though for me as akid, favourite was always the most recent one i got. However that fell aprt when i considered the last three figures that i bought

A wing pilot
Imperial Dignitary
Anakin

Essential they were far from being my favourites!!

Actually that sounds like an idea for another couple of threads....

Well the toys didn't come out until 1978 in America (hence the early bird set) so must have been even later in the UK. By then the film must have been out of the cinema, so I'd assume you saw the film first.

My top 5 would be:

1) Luke X-Wing
2) Luke Bespin
3) Biker Scout
4) Darth Vader
5) Rebel Soldier

Never really thought of my favourite 5, I guess (in no particular order);

1 - Biker Scout.
2 - A-wing pilot,
3 - Gammorean Guard
4 - Tie fighter pilot,
5 - Possibly, Royal Guard.

Though, if you ask me next week it will probably be totally different.

difficult to pick so ive had to go with 2 lists, past and present.

past. (as a kid)
1.boba fett
2.luke jedi
3.leia boussh
4.yak face
5.amanaman

note. yak face and amanaman i didnt actually have as a kid but i would always go to my nans on a sunday around 1989-1991 and walk past alfies antique market and in the window would be all the vintage figures on display that included yak face and amanaman who were the only two in those display tube things which made them special, i knew they were star wars but had never seen them before and i wanted them so badly.

present.
1.r2-d2 pop-up (great idea)
2.luke stormtrooper
3.c3p0 removable limbs (another great idea)
4.darth vader
5.blue snaggletooth (love those silver boots)
