I've been on the Internet for 9 years now and the only Spam I have ever seen has been pure junk  and with all the recent activity we've had on the Forum lately got me thinking

Has anyone on this forum ever seen a piece of Spam (except porn :D) that they found interesting or of use?

I don't understand why they bother

depends how you class spam really, we get tons of spam emails trying to sell us new IT products and software, sometimes it comes in handy to get quotes and get competetive prices down.

then you get useless spam avertising porn, useless sex products (no i aint tried them) and expensive anti-virus software.

spam is generated via programs and sent to mailing lists, usually 1000's at a time. Some spam emails installs spyware/phishing/keylogging viruses, some is just useless links to paysites and other dodgy stuff, some spam is corporate stuff, like if you sign up to download some software and you get bombarded by advertisements for other products.

I had a littlewoods account and they must have sold my email address to other compaines as i got numerous emails from argos, carpet and window firms, and at the bottom in a little disclaimer is explained that my information was shared by littlewoods.

i use a program called 10 minute mail http://10minutemail.com/10MinuteMail/index.html its totally free, this generates a mailbox and email address for you that stays open for 10minutes so you can register for software etc, retrieve the link and then the email address is deleted after 10 minutes.

or you could just have a spare aol/gmail account for signing up to rubbish to save your inbox.

once your email address is circulated its very hard to stop it coming in, you can use inbox tools like mailwasher/cactus spam filter which will filter out spam and seperate it, ms outlook has an ok spam filter.

they will sell your email address to vendors so they can pound your inbox :)

our offices exchange server uses symantec to block spam emails, last time i looked it was blocking around 800 emails a day.
