I believe that Star Wars played on ITV around Christmas from 1983 to 1987. I’m not 100% on this.

I definitely know that ESB premiered Christmas 1988 and I’m pretty sure it was on 1989 as well.

Jedi premiered Christmas 1990.

My first introduction to Star Wars. I remember everyone playing it at school the next day, then got my Mum to buy me my first figure, then an AT-AT that Christmas!

Spooked, ROTJ did show up earlier on the thread. If it's not active then let me know via PM in case I miss the thread. I don't stray here often. It is from the Boxing Day 1989 premier.

Yep.

I have to say those showings weren't quite the cultural phenomenon they should have been. Being in the dark times, I remember it was very much star wars 'fans' lapping it up with younger kids being quite non-plussed and many of my fellow teenagers being too cool for it, or pretending to be.

I remember seeing at the time that Back To The Future bet Empire Strikes Back in the ratings, back in the days when schedulers were nasty and put out similar programmes against one another. BTTF had the benefit of not being eight years old. I recall thinking 'oh Star Wars doesn't run the world any more'.

I did get that one thanks, but the one I’m after is the 1990 one...I think! If you read my article I did for Jedi news it explains it...i hope!
