Forum Figure of the Year 2019 - Round 1 - Group G

Post by Stuart Skinner »

Group G has no figure with any pedigree in this competition previously, a chance for a figure or two to make a name for themselves across the SWFUK Forum Figure.

Luke Poncho is the 5th of the Luke figures to appear, but he has had a torrid past with elimination at the group stage every single comp. But complete 1st round exits aren't just for him in this group with Klaatu Skiff Guard, Wicket and Rebel Commando also have the same past.

The only two figures to have ever progressed are the wonderful IG-88 who has cleared the group stage four times of the five previous competitions, but he has yet to win a knockout match having exited in the second round every year. Weequay progressed from the group once back in 2016 but he too fell at the second stage.

A wide open group.

Tough calls this group

IG-88 - love this figure and have a very fond memory of it and my nan
Rebel Commando - Love him
Wicket - well he is pretty amazing, without him the empire wins

What a tough group, but for all the wrong reasons.
IG88 is a given, but the other...two well!
I went with R.Commander and Wicket, but then I could have gone with any of the others!
Come on Wicket

I love Weequay. His face and hair sculpt are awesome, and his action stance adds a degree of dynamism to the line

IG-88 and Wicket were easy picks for me, but it was closer for my final choice. In the end, I went for Luke.

Wicket, Weequay and Rebel Commando are three of may favourite figures out there, so easy picks for me
Wicket fits perfectly in my hand and did just that as a kid too
Rebel commando, along with Hoth Rebel soldier was a 'most played with' toy... so many battles and both great figures in their own right too
Weequay... great hair, if only I could say the same...

Luke, Wicket and IG88... never owned any of these from new as a child so have no nostalgic attachment to the figures, but I loved the Endor scenes, and IG88 is a great sculpt :)
You weren't on any mercy mission this time, Your Highness.

Rebel Commando - with IG a close second as he had 2 weapons.

Right figures in the right order. Only chose Luke Poncho as all the rest were just too dull. Stupid hat design, the fact he can’t hold his blaster and didn’t come with a sabre should make him binable but he wins the 3rd place by default for me in this round.

Another commanding group victory this time for IG-88

Even Wicket in second spot progresses by 5 votes. Wicket is just the second ever Ewok to progress out the group stages.
