L-R: Big Head Han: Kenner HK CoO; Euro No CoO; PBP Smooth Deleted No CoO (European market); PBP Smooth Deleted No CoO (Spanish market); Small Head Han: Kenner HK CoO (molded legs); Kenner HK CoO (painted legs)
Wow that is great army of solo variants, thanks for sharing them and all the great info about them as always

Better late than never, here are mine! :-)

A childhood favourite, what was not to like about Han Solo?!... Well, the balloon-headed version, if you were me. It took me ages to get a small head one back in 1978/9, and I only managed it eventually by swapping figures with a friend of my brother, as by that point the only version I could find in the shops was the enormous-headed one, which I definitely didn't want! The small head version might have a slightly undersized bonce, but at least it vaguely resembles Harrison Ford. I'm not sure who they modeled the large head version on, as it looks more like Richard Madeley to me. Anyway, it's interesting to think how rare the large head version is these days on a Palitoy 12 back, because back then that's the only carded version I ever saw!

From left to right:

A small head, thin eyebrows, moulded legs. A small head, thin eyebrows, painted legs. A small head, bushy eyebrows, moulded legs. A large head, dark brown hair, moulded legs. A large head, red-brown hair, moulded legs. And although I'm not really bothered by the COOs, I know some others are (Lars ;-)), so I've included those too.

Wow again and army of figures, thanks for sharing them with all the great info :D I agree with you about the head. I also like the small head better than the balloon head, I do not remember it from my childhood. I think it was not easy to get in denmark. So I did not have that Han Solo figure when I was a kid :(

I’ve always think the large head is a better resemblance.

Fair enough, each to their own (although, you're wrong, obviously ;-)).

I think it's the hair more than anything else which sells it for me. I simply don't remember Han's hair looking anything like it does on the large head figure at any stage during Star Wars. Han had a centre parting, and so does the small head figure. Mind you, both heads are out of proportion. The small one is too small and the large head obviously too big. Kenner got the proportions much better on subsequent Han figures (although the less said about the car tyre neck on Han Carbonite the better! ), but it's a shame the original Han didn't have a more accurate figure in the first place.
