Re: Star Wars Toy of the Week, Week 37, 2019, Part 2/2
The Rebel Transport was clearly a very popular toy back in the 80's, and Kenner were very smart to essentially make it into a carrying case for the figures. I seriously doubt they would have sold anywhere near as many otherwise since it wasn't exactly one of the more 'glamourous' vehicles from the film. I can't honestly claim it's a great favourite of mine, but no collection is complete without one!
Here's mine. It's a bit battered, and at some point I'd like to upgrade it, but it will certainly do for now:

Had no idea the ESB ones were yellow. Some great examples here, are any variations missing?

The blue and yellow ESB boxes really compliment each other

Re: Star Wars Toy of the Week, Week 37, 2019, Part 2/2
I believe that the yellow issue Kenner ESB box was the first release version, before being changed to the blue ESB one like Cazza's terrific example above.spoons wrote:Had no idea the ESB ones were yellow. Some great examples here, are any variations missing?
Agreed, although I actually I think the blue box is the nicer looking of the two. I only nabbed a yellow one because I try to collect the first issue packaging of all ships, vehicles and playsets, with Palitoy packaging being my first preference unless, as is the case with the Rebel Transport, Millennium Falcon and Scout Walker for example, Kenner released them for an earlier film than Palitoy, in which case I go for the Kenner version. I did have a Palitoy Jedi boxed Rebel Transport, but I let it go when I got my yellow Kenner ESB one.Cazza wrote:The blue and yellow ESB boxes really compliment each other
