Entire Star Wars Collection For sale?

As with a number of the posts here this is my first interaction and like a number of others it seems, i am doing so as i am 'investigating' the option of selling my entire collection. I must stress at this point i am still a little on the fence due to the number of years i have been building this up and so on, but as i am now running the risk of driving my family round the bend i think the time might have come to 'let go my feelings' and sell up.

As i mentioned above i have been collecting for a while (about 15 years) and have a spread of stuff from 77 through to this year, most of which has been tracked down and bought 'old school' with only the Hasbro product produced in the last couple of years being purchased online. I know this is a vintage forum but I thought it would be a good place to start and get some feedback on the how's and what's of selling a collection this size. Just as a point of reference i have loaded in this slightly unhelpful picture of the room this collection is stored in as i was tidying it up last year, just for perspective.

Ideally i would love one ridiculously well off person to take the lot off my hands (they would also need a sizable truck…) but I suspect it will be more realistic to think in terms of smaller lots. In my mind this begins to 'smack' of eBay as an approach, and while I don't mind selling off bits and bobs that way the logistics (not to mention pricing) of selling this volume via that route doesn't fill be with a warm fuzzy feeling.

Anyway, at this stage I would be interested in any feedback or thoughts people might have, but at the same time I am conscious that I am not actually offering anything for sale (yet, having made this step it is almost inevitable now) so I don't want to waste anyone's time, so to speak.

Not too sure all the modern stuff should be tarred with the same brush. The mid 90's may not have been great but since the turn of the millennium the tooling techniques have improved markedly and now we can get such a range of figures, agreed some get churned out a bit too much, but if you filter those out there is some great stuff, the recent comic-pack run or the large Falcon from 2008, the Force Unleashed Rancor & Rider, plenty of models that didn't exist or couldn't be produced back in the day. Maybe not a purists view but I don't think all the modern stuff is bad or a waste of money.

As for the Lego, yeah, I can't believe what some of it sells for on eBay, but it is just too much fun to build to even think about selling.

I agree with you mate, the 90's stuff was shite, especially the pumped up POTF figures.
But some of the newer stuff is reaslly good with some great sculpts.

I have also had some feedback about the type of sale i would make so thanks for that. At this point I am not going to split up the collection so i am firmly looking at a lot sale (that might change with time), which has raised the question of price, at this point the simple answer is I am open to offers and happy to chat to anyone via PM about that. I know that the bulk of this lot isn't to the majority of this forum's taste but the comments and contact so far have been great.

Good luck with the sale, despite not wanting to piece this out (understandably) I think you should split the modern from vintage to get some moving (you have a LOT of modern which won't get you a lot sale here)

If you split the vintage off from the rest you could probably get a buyer or it could be pieced out here after you offload the modern.

There might be a couple of dealers that might be prepared to take it all off your hands in one go but they probably won't offer good money as trying to shift the modern stuff is getting very hard. Splitting it into lots is gonna be the best way sadly.

Could be right about dealers, Already knocked one chap back (nothing to do with this forum), i could literally see the $ signs in his eyes when he reviewed the list and then preceed to tell me all about his overheads etc and offer up a pitance, even by dealer standards. Should have known better than to ask him actually as last year when i sold all my transformers toys he offered my £300 for the lot, i actually got £1600 for them a few months later doing a profit split with a very good shop in central London.

Bandy prices from other dealers to prospective dealers lets them know you are not completely witless. Are you willing to sell one off items to members here? Just before you get a whole load of PM's requesting stuff better to nip that in the bud now.

If you do go down the route of Ebay just don't put it all up at once. Packaging and posting items is very time consuming. I have a huge model kit stash that i pruned down and was a bit overwhelmed with having to post everything out at once.
