Yep.
I have to say those showings weren't quite the cultural phenomenon they should have been. Being in the dark times, I remember it was very much star wars 'fans' lapping it up with younger kids being quite non-plussed and many of my fellow teenagers being too cool for it, or pretending to be.
I remember seeing at the time that Back To The Future bet Empire Strikes Back in the ratings, back in the days when schedulers were nasty and put out similar programmes against one another. BTTF had the benefit of not being eight years old. I recall thinking 'oh Star Wars doesn't run the world any more'.
