Discussion/thoughts

Posted this on a couple of FB groups and thought I'd also post it here .

So I've just purchased this card back from another group as I noticed the bubble tear area looked unusual for an ESB card back , to me it looks like a "trilogo " style bubble was used would you agree ?

This is the first time I've come across this type of bubble used on other than a rotj or trilogo has anyone else seen this before ?

So it's got me thinking is this an early use of the trilogo bubble or late use of the bubble maybe end of line clearing up what ever they had lying around ?

Personally I'm leaning towards early use as reading about the ex palitoy stock find that was bought up by ToyToni ... I think? ( someone correct me if I'm wrong) it had no mention of trilogo bubbles in the find and surly if they had plenty of trilogo bubbles laying around he would of got some amongst that lot ?

I'm interested in hearing your thoughts about this so please comment :)

The ROTJ Palitoy 45s were also packed with tri bubbles. The ESB 45s weren't issued long before them so I don't seen any issue with it having a tri bubble.

A lot of Palitoy card backs hung around for a while before being matched with a figure.

Someone on a FB group suggested it's a transition bubble from 45b's to 45c's which seems very likely and also Jason ( mr palitoy ) said this is the first 45b with what would of been a trilogo bubble he has seen . Pretty cool find .

It is suspected Toy Toni had some Clipper cards as part of his unused cardback haul, so it seems possible that Palitoy could have assembled some. I'd be interested to see it if you have a photo?

A couple more to look out for to add to your focus Edd?

Based on these being the only few I've seen, I would put them down to Palitoy using whatever packaging they had to hand near the end of the line to shift stock rather than a 'legit' packaging variation. I would need to see more of them to start hunting them down.

I saw this on facebook and commented. Very cool find. I've never seen a carded 45b with the Tri Logo bubble. So it sounds like left over card stock being used up later on.

Do you think the same for the clipper Vader's above ?

I believe the ESB 45b Palitoy, Clipper and German GM were all carded at the Palitoy factory. No reason why left over card back stock for any of them couldn't have been used later on and Tri Logo bubbles added. But these are the first examples I've come across.

I have an ESB Clipper Vader like that as well, with the tri logo bubble. Looking at your pic it could be the actual same moc, looking at the crease on the front.
The pic itself does not look familiar so I would be curious to know where it was posted on FB, perhaps it was a previous owner?
Or I need glasses :)

Wow that is cool to see, I think the first ESB MOC I've seen with a trilogo bubble :)
