I don't think this is an area of vintage collecting that garners much attention but with the popularity or re-seals rising, and trying to put a run together myself I have found obtaining and identifying the footers something of a mystery on some figures.

For instance, are there any major differences in Kenner and Palitoy footers - shape and colour?

I've also noticed some Palitoy figures are pictured with the 'W' style footer as opposed to the flat type - the 30 back Hoth Trooper is one example.

With the first 10 ESB figures released on Palitoy 30 backs, 3 of the footers changed from flat to 'V' (or 'W', if you prefer) shaped footers when they changed from 30a to 30b backs. This change happened to the Imperial Stormtrooper (Hoth Battle Gear), Han Solo (Hoth Outfit), and Bossk. You can see images of them on Mr Palitoy's excellent website here if you're interested:

I'm not sure if there is any variance between Palitoy and Kenner footers generally, but I doubt it. I do know that some footers don't exactly match the shade of colour the figure stands in front of, and there can also be variance in the footers within a single figure, sometimes due to bubble changes as with the 12-back Jawa.

This is pretty much what I've observed over the years looking into footers although the footers for the 12 back Palitoy mocs seem to match the background colour behind the figure better than the Kenner ones do for this run. There always seem to be the odd ones that don't follow this rule but for the most part it seems to be that way. Also the W shaped footer for the Palitoy small head Han tends to be slightly shorter and sharper than the examples I've seen for the Palitoy 12 back large head Han which bow more. I think I remember seeing one 12 back Palitoy Chewbacca that had a rounded front to the footer but this may have been the SKU footer I mentioned to Jason years ago that he included in his site. You can see what I've mentioned on his site - https://www.freewebs.com/mrpalitoy/sw12acardback.htm

The one footer I'm wondering about is the 30 back polity FX-7 and if those were all rounded at the front or came squared off as well. It would be good to know what footer you have for this figure if you either have a moc or reseal.

I'll try to get some pictures up of the footers in my collection and add them to this thread when I get the chance but it would be interesting to hear peoples findings.

I do have a rather poor reseal that I bought as a reseal. As such, I have no way of knowing if the footer is real or not, but I seriously doubt it as it is significantly narrower than the bubble. For what it's worth, it's square cut. However, of rather more worth hopefully is this:

Scroll down the page and you'll see a 30B FX-7 with a square cut footer. However, I have no idea if the 30A's also came with square footers in addition to rounded front ones like this example:

Great info and it does look like the footer was changed from A to B back most probably. It's a shame you can't see the colour of it on either source as I'm trying to also see if the footer was the same shade as the background behind the figure or darker as I've seen in the past. I'm pretty sure it's either based on when in was packed and as mentioned before I'm sure there are examples of both out there.

Interesting subject. I've often wondered if there's any rhyme or reason to it. I've had several Mocs with them in. Strange how they decided to use the big W ones only on a few figures. Also why they put any in at all? I thought it was because of the stemmed bubbles on SW and ESB Mocs, to give a flat surface for the figure to stand on, but there are some in ROTJ Mocs with no stem.

A few of my Jedi ones, just noticed the folded part between the legs are all different lengths.

Interesting to note there could have been a change from square to rounded on the Palitoys given those 2 FX7s.

I also never knew footers were still being added to Jedi MOCs as I thought they'd been dropped from production by then.
