The Vintage Rebellion rumbles on post Jexit, as Stuart, Richard and Pete are joined by two of the five rotating guest hosts, this month we welcome Edd Grant and Jason Smith on board to help us with the void that Jez leaves.

Pete takes control of the interview this month as he completes his trilogy of Toy Shop interviews, this time it is Chris Molbon for Metropolis that joins him for a chat.

Richard is joined by David Quinn, Dan Loisell and Brent Scothmer to discuss this years ICCC event and what will be different from last years. Rich also looks at a fantastic fund raising raffle over on Tantive as well as an early look at 'The Man Who Shot Luke Skywalker Project'. With help from attendee Jason, Rich also reviews the recent LFCC event.

Pete introduces his new section, 'License to Thrill', where he looks at one vintage license each month. This month sees UK show company, Clarks, delved into, but why no shoes from Clarks in the UK during the line? Baffling!!!

Newest Acquisitions returns without it's natural leader, but the lads take on a shorter section looking at Kenner Lightsabers, John Menzies, Dairylea, beater MOCs and Handmade figures before finishing with their main topic, this month it's the Kenner Death Star, and as always we have The Vintage Alliance drop by to help us out once again, this time we hear from Ron Salvatore.

As well as all this we hear the TVR shenanigans on a recent Star Wars weekender and as usual the quiz. thanks to grant sharing the back seat of a car with Stuart we also see the return of the song!!!

All this plus much more on this months Vintage Rebellion Podcast.

Enjoy the Show!

How will the pod be post Jexit? Who would of thought that Jez-TAN-ian leaving the Three Musketeers behind would have upstaged Boris and his no deal Brexit this year? Looking forward to the new format lads. Up the pod!

Currently have 5 pairs of Clark’s US (Vader, Leia x 2, R2 and Tusken Raider) and 2 pairs Clark’s Canada (R2 and Jet Fighter) - all are new - also have 3 pairs of new Stride Rite. It was the box art on the Clark’s US which drew me in initially but I think the shoes are just so seventies and represent the time so perfectly that I grew to love them too.

The ‘Tusken Raider’ shoes which I like as it’s scored into the sides.

Great post Martin and great collection, I love them too, definitely want a pair, having seen those Tuskegee shoes in your post I think it’s those that I want, I guess being short you wear them for the killer heel

Awesome box art. Spangly shoes. Funny how auto correct always changes Tusken to Tuskegee. What the hell is Tuskegee anyway?

Correct mate, it was also one of the WORST films I've ever seen - I thought Pearl Harbour was bad but Red Tails is shockingly poor.

Half way through the cast now lads, nice to hear Jasons dulcit tones again but also good to hear Edd, both very entertaining and hope we get to hear them again.

Chris Melbon has been on the toy scene for decades so nice to actually hear a bit more about him and his shop. Might I suggest Joe from Leicester Vintage Toys as another future interviewee? That guy has forgotten more about toy collecting than I will ever know - and about a whole host of other lines too. His shop in Leicester - right in the heart of Palitoy land is something to behold!

Looking forward to listneing to the rest of the show and prepping for September! :)

Fantastic episode and although I will really miss hearing Jez who put in so much over the years it was nice to hear from the 2 guest members this month and get a slightly different perspective on the hobby (just listening to Jason crunching the numbers was class!).

I really enjoyed the interview with Chris Molbon who's shop I've admired for years online, he really does get some nice examples and quite a cross section of vintage goodies! Also which Richard was talking about his footwear growing up I was literally crying with laughter, it's another moment to be kept and treasured for the ages

I thought I'd join the Clarks party also and post up my shoes and box. The box was one of the first things I picked up when i got into collecting vintage and this example was from an uncut printed sheet of the box. I feel now that I may well have made an error in making it up :? but at the time I really wanted this box to hold my figures in so that I could relive my youth and how I used to store my figures (oops!). Oh well, at least I have a nice mint example even if I won't be able to pay my house off (although I do still have the trimmings somewhere so maybe I can take it apart and resemble it?!).

The shoes were bought some years later and are unused and I think they're Lukes? I have had these out to sell for ages now but keep forgetting to ask for advice on here as to price but do let me now if there's someone who collects these.

These podcasts have gone from strength to strength and as ever are the best Star Wars focused podcasts to listen to for me.

Ian

You might find that you wouldn't need the sellotape though with these :D

It was a pleasure to join you guys for this one :) I'm about half way through, absolutely loved the Chris Molbon interview, incredibly interesting and I need to try and make a visit to his shop. Hearing dealers like him talk reminds me of 'the good old days' when collecting was all smoke and mirrors, sure there might be more stuff availale now with eBay and Facebook etc but it's killed a lot of the hunting and excitement. Also very sad to hear his Jim Stevenson stories, I think the last time I saw him was Memerobilia in 2009.

Great episode guys. What a fantastic finale to your trio of interviews Pete. I found your chat with Chris from Metropolis Toys fascinating. In particular his memories of Jim Stevenson. These type of historical interviews are priceless, and this one reminded me of the great Dan Flarida interview with Steve Denny.

I also really liked the new Licensee section and can see this being a superbly fascinating discussion bringing a wealth of knowledge to a number of beyond the toys areas of collecting I know little about. In fact this might just fill the large ‘Beyond the toys’ sized hole left when Grant waved goodbye to the podcast. Clarks was an inspired choice to kick things off and it’s brilliant seeing all the photos on this thread. I’d not seen many of these before.

Well done Stu on covering off the NA section and great work also Ed and Jason.., kicked off like pros. Oh and well done Rich as well ;-).

I've only recently started listening to the pod cast but am enjoying it a lot and have also started working though your previous episodes. Good work guys.

On the last one Jason suggested that whsmith may not have sold any star wars figures. I don't really remember them selling them but I've a few price stickers that say otherwise.

Menzies was a faviorite of mine and I still have my childhood rebel transport box.
