When Star Wars was released, my wife worked for the distributors and got to meet some of the cast. She was also given a Star Wars poster that has been hanging up in my son's bedroom for the past 18 years. A friend of a friend saw the poster and offered us £500 for it saying it's a rarity. Obviously my wife is very excited about this, but my son wants to keep this as he is very fond of it. I have a feeling this may be worth more. I've attached an image, sorry about the reflection. It's in reasonable condition with a few very small tears but it is intact.

Hi
Welcome to the forum.

Your suspicions are correct £500 may be a bit of a lowball for this one. This is a 1977 UK quad done by the Hildebrant brothers. To be fair I am not sure of an exact UK price but it is more than £500.

To be honest this is one of those you might want to get appraised before deciding what to do, there are some specialist vintage poster dealers about that will give you a value (I would get several)

Here are the two examples I found on a US site - http://www.cinemasterpieces.com/cinestarwars.htm#newhope

I am not saying yous is worth what the dealer above is asking but I do know you have a rare poster.

As said the best advise is a little research and a few dealer appeals to get an idea of value. But if it were me, I would have it framed and hanging on a wall with pride :)
