Is Rogue One going to be a REAL Star Wars film?

I saw the trailer before CW and I was gutted because I was really underwhelmed by it! It just didn't seem to translate well onto the big screen. The atmosphere seemed lacking somehow. I'd seen it a couple of times when it came originally came out and was pretty impressed so no idea why I found it so unappealing ...

Very interesting addition to the Star Wars universe. I don't care about the position of this movie between all of the Star Wars movies. These spin offs are quite amazing, I hope they make a real Shadows of the Empire movie

I know very little about it. Not even sure when it's supposed to be set. Everything balanced on the TFA for me as far as all future SW films go. They didn't **** that up so i'm optimistic
