So let's talk SW.
In celebration of this day, this discussion has in-depth details of an Ultimate Special Edition, focusing on the Death Star assault. Enjoy!

Changes list

Throughout:

1. Give 4K/HD treatment to the raw/bluescreen/greenscreen takes.
2. Un-flip all flipped shots.
3. Redo all FX shots/space scenes using Rogue One's CGI.
4. Re-arrange all Rebel command centre shots to fix issues where the image has been flipped (you can tell because 3PO's dent on his head keeps swapping sides and Leia keeps changing position). Using archival takes.
5. Recolour Red Leader's helmet to its consistent yellow. (There are numerous occasions where it turns green)
6. Create hologram schematics to all shots of the tactical table in the middle of the command centre.
7. Add Yavin to the background of several shots to give the viewer a point of reference.
8. Add more Rebel fighters to the background of several shots.
9. Add starfields to shots that had none.
10. Replace several blank backgrounds seen out of the cockpit windows.
11. Add the Death Star's surface to several shots.
12. Re-colour R2 blue in shots where he was still black.
13. Create numerous alternate and new shots to add more motion to originally sterile backgrounds.
14. Add extra stripes to Luke's X-Wing so it's no longer marked "Red 2" (as all of the Special Edition X-Wings were).
15. No obvious R2-D2 duplicates in the rebel fighters.
16. Add fighters chasing each other in the cockpit backgrounds.
17. Create a new DS trench, inspired by Battlefront EA.
18. Redo the graphics of all fighters' target scopes.
19. Add fighters in the trench when they should be seen.
20. Redo the rebel targeting computer graphics.
21. Fix Vaders helmet during the Death Star battle where it slips back due to being pressed against the TIE fighter seat

Additional:

1. Add an alternate shot of Red Leader saying "All wings report in" so his microphone is on the correct side.
2. Re-colour the blue lights that flash when the DS turrets are firing to match the green they actually fire.
3. Replace the multiple shots of Luke diving in to blow up a tower with a new one.
4. Add a shot of Porkins getting hit.
5. Instead of six TIE Fighters, the station's entire complement of TIE Fighters is scrambled; Giving a new definition to the saying "Enemy fighters coming your way"
6. New docking bay matte for Vader's TIE and escort (using the original matte from the Falcon's docking bay) and alter the flight path of the fighters.
7. Add Red Leader's X-Wing hitting the surface.
8. Black out the window behind Vader's head in his TIE.
9. Realign Vader's shot at R2 so it hits its target.
10. Enhance R2's explosion as he gets hit, and show the explosion still going on in the next cockpit shot of Luke.
11. Reshoot the next shot of R2 in the fighter, using the original damaged R2 to fix a continuity issue.
12. Fix the TIE next to Vader's that explodes a few frames after its hit so that it explodes as its hit.
13. Have the Falcon swerve upwards rather than sidewards.
14. Add a lens flare to the Falcon's dramatic entrance.
15. Create new shots of the remaining fighters flying away from the DS.
16. Replace/rearrange the shots of the DS gunners commencing primary ignition with previously-unused takes of the same shots.
17. Use a new shot of the laser beam firing from the DS interior.
18. [QUICK NOTE: The only reason for adding the final shot of Tarkin before the DS explodes was just to remind the audience that he's on board.]
19. Add new shot of the DS beams about to meet and fire on Yavin IV just before it blows up.
20. Add the remaining fighters flying past the screen in that same shot, based on the pre-Special Edition variant.
21. Enhance the pre-SE DS explosion to replace the SE shockwave.
22. Vader's TIE to not get darker as it flies away from screen.

Audio:

1. Fix further dialogue quality issues.
2. All voiceovers to be reverted back to theatrical/1997 SE filters.
3. The force fanfare to not be drowned out when the X-Wings begin their dive to the DS.
4. Alter Red Leader's line of "Red 6, can you see Red 5?" to "Red 2, can you see Red 5?".
5. Replace Luke's line "Blast it, Biggs, where are you?" with "Blast it, Wedge, where are you?" from the mono mix.
6. Add dialog from the radio drama of Luke yelling for Biggs after he dies.
