I'm thinking about putting a run of Trilogo Lukes together, but don't know about pricing these days - especially on the tougher ones. What are peoples opinions of the cost of the following in about c8.5 condition (bubbles pretty square with no cracks, no folds or real damage you see from more than a few feet away)?

Luke Gunner (£450?)
Luke X-Wing (£150?)
Luke Bespin (£450?)
Luke Hoth (£500?)
Luke Jedi (£150?)
Luke Endor (£200?)
Luke Stormtrooper (£300?)

Am I miles off?

I think you are slightly high on most of those (apart from perhaps Luke Stormtrooper) but on the plus side, if those are the prices you are prepared to pay then you'll be able to pick them up quite quickly.

Prices really depend on what kind of condition you want them in too, the difference in price from a c7 to a nice c9 is quite large:
This one went for $355 in C7ish condition while this much nicer one sold for a best offer
under the $599 BIN price:

Either way, both were well under £450.

I'd say with some patience you could get them all for..:

Luke Gunner - £300
Luke X-Wing - £100
Luke Bespin - £350
Luke Hoth - £400
Luke Jedi - £100
Luke Endor - £150
Luke Stormtrooper (£300?) - Probably that amount if not slightly over (or if you get lucky..slightly under)

Prices look about right - although condition will be the key - the better the bubble then the higher the price - especially for those one which on the whole are more sought after because of the character

The issue is that they just aren't coming up that often these days - and the ones that do obviously attract a premium - so patience will be the key

Great - thanks both!

Good to hear I might be a bit over on some of them, which makes a really nice day in these days of crazy pricing!

It's a side run so I definitely don't want to be throwing silly money at it to 'get it done' so am happy for it to take a little while.

I picked up a luke stormy for £260 a couple of months back. Probably a C7 so perhaps a little rough for you.

Are you fussed about the £1.59 sticker on the last 17's? I think the clean ones may add a slight premium.

Yes, I am actually - Id sooner have them all without the sticker.

I remember Jim Stevenson selling a set of the last 17 all with the stickers, which looked awesome - but I think having 2 with a 5 without wouldn't fit in with my collecting OCD!

I'm in the same boat, I wanted all without the stickers but had to settle with one for luke stormie.

In a way I'm glad because it's a nice variation and a cool piece of history. Luckily hes not part of a run so won't stick out like a sore thumb.

Good luck with the run, it's going to be a tough one to see through. You given up on the 45b bounty hunter run. :D

Did you see the insane Luke prices today at Vectis? Think Luke X-Wing was £200 something, Luke gunner nearer £500 and Luke Hoth over £800. All plus fees :(

Jesus, there's been 3 AFA Luke X-Wing Trilogos sold on Ebay in the last month, all less than £230. One was a 75 and I think the other 2 were 80s.
What condition was the vectis one in?

Quick look shows these trilogo Luke prices......PLUS commission (24% or 27% if bidding live online):

Luke Bespin AFA80 - £520
Luke Jedi AFA80 - £140
Luke Storm AFA 85 - £800
Luke Poncho AFA80 - £180
Luke Gunner AFA70 - £400
Luke X-Wing AFA70 £220
Luke Hoth AFA85 - £950

Some of those are beyond mental. They're Event Horizon kind of crazy.

Combination of people not doing the slightest bit of research, having more money than sense or patience and getting carried away with the auction I guess.

I think yesterday at Vectis brought out a different kind of buyer, or collector, not sure the two were the same thing. Whilst you had some veritable bargains amongst the lots, there were some inexplicable prices. Luke Stormtrooper on Trilogo for £1,000, anyone? No? How about an Amanaman at £870? OK, we'll surely a Yak Face at not much short of £1,700 then? And for the tight arse the R2 pop up was a snip at £650.

And yet look at the prices of some of the Palitoy 20 and 30 backs, mint ones at that, going for less. Also there were two, very reasonable Death Star playsets, complete with boxes and instructions, sold for £350 each. Some loose figures lots were almost sensible, some weren't.

And then there's very specialist items like the Trebor posted (did I read it sold for £900?) and the four Palitoy leaflets for £340. Very niche items commanding very high prices.

Not sure what to make of it overall. The volatility of prices is bizarre. It would I be nice for prices, post movie, to find a period of calm at any level.

To confirm, I wasn't the mental buyer (or even the mental underbidder) on any of these. I was going to have a go at a couple, but they got away from me pretty quickly!

Another Luke gunner sold for just under £400 (literally..it was £399 according to Xe) AFA 80: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Star-Wars-Tri-Logo-70-Back-B-Luke-Skywalker-AFA-80-No-Reserve-/361444575091?hash=item5427c68773%3Ag%3A4yoAAOSw~gRV1MQD&nma=true&si=zaTcii88Ql4rbUROFg4pgAcjzmU%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

I know it might be a hive of scum and villainy but eBay still manages to deliver more bargains/fair prices on most Vintage production than sotheby's or vectis ever will and tbh, given the option, I know where I would be shopping

I saw that one, looked good value at that price although you would possibly have had import duty and VAT to pay I believe.

There definitely would have been import duty from Brianstoys - although it still looked like a good price. I think I was at FF (not buying any trilogos ;) ) when it finished!

I'll hold my hand up to buying the Gunner Luke at Vectis for £400, a self-chrimbo present, i hadn't done the maths on the commission, was a bit higher than expected! Sorry guys. I'd been after one for ages. It was AFA80 not 70 though. I've seen them go for a lot more than that so thought £400 was about fair market value, which to be fair it probably is. If anybody wants to sell me a Luke Bespin and Hoth at the prices Joe has quoted I'd be in please! Please! I've been after them for a long time at a decent price. The Luke STD and Hoth were crazy prices. I'd love a Luke Hoth, but no way I'd go over 5-600 and even that seems high. I got Luke STD for £400 which I thought was okay.

With regard to the Trilogo prices that I post..I know I have a tendancy to quote on the low side (compared to others) but I do so with the mindset that people would rather save a few pennies and hunt a figure down at a more reasonable price rather than paying a dealer/sellers ransom just to obtain it NOW.

You might never find those figures at the prices I quoted at Vectis but with patience and a bit of luck you may do at eBay or at a lesser known auction house..or even through a good contact/collector friend. I've certainly seen figures sell at the prices I quote and I've even seen them sell for less (or been offered them for less) so I know for a fact that you don't have to spend more than those amounts to obtain them.

Another thing worth noting is that I always try to give a value based on a "C8" ungraded example. So..while I'm still talking about a decent looking ungraded figure, it will always be one that may have a ding or a card issue and one without any insane premium slapped on it due to an AFA sticker.

I don't know how long you've been looking for those particular figures but I think it took me 2 or 3 years to find a Luke Hoth at a price I was willing to pay for one, so it just depends on your budget, how long you are prepared to wait and how badly you feel you need an item as to how much you end up spending.

For what it's worth I've bought all 7 in the last 12 months, and paid as follows (including postage/fees etc)

Luke Farmboy: £265
Luke X-Wing: £100
Luke Bespin: £364.50
Luke Hoth: £300
Luke Jedi: £100
Luke Poncho: £110
Luke Stormtrooper: £305

Like Joe I tend to be a bargain hunter and very rarely pay 'market value' for anything, but as others have said patience is the key, especially right now where everything is in short supply, even bloody loose figures let alone MOCs! Here they are to show you the condition:

Joe is also absolutely right, the best place by far for bargains is still eBay. You have to put in the hours and have some luck, but badly listed items or simply lack of other bidders will enable you to get good deals in time. Forums and Vectis are great, but you'll rarely find a bargain.

I wish I'd seen that $599 Luke Farmboy, have been looking for a blonde one all year :(
