Hi guys this may have been discussed before if so sorry about that is there a section where it is?
I am trying to find out which magazine I think late 70s early 80s. Inside was the plans and instructions how to build a starwars playset. I think it was the cloud city from memory but i can't find it.
Has anyone ever built this or attempted to build it? I am thinking of trying if I can find the plans. From memory there was one of the old coke bottles was used for a lift? or something similar which slide down a piece of string.

If you google the search term 'Women's Day Magazine Star Wars Playset' this is what you might be looking for.
Although the magazine was made for the American public.

All the best.

Bang on! that's the one :)it was the space station I was talking about. At least I now know I'm not the only one on here reads womens day magazine
I had always toyed with the idea of trying to build some sort of model relating to vintage starwars.
I must have spotted that when I was researching trying to build something. I couldn't remember the name cheers mate.
I would be interested to know from anyone.
If this was built would this be regarded as part of your vintage starwars collection?
It seems it was designed for the figures of that era?
Or because it's not palitoy or kenner made does that mean I should keep it separate?
Has anyone on here ever built something like that? or those other designs in that magazine?

I always liked these home made sets.

Makes me wonder why I didn't make things myself. I tried once to make a sort of hoth rebel base from an old plastic bowl and some paper mache, but it wasn't great.

When I look back now I think of all the modelling skills I did have (not great but not bad either) and that I could have, with some cardboard boxes and paint, made some cracking bases.

I was also into toy soldiers so often made things for them. Plus my dad was a model maker and worked for matchbox, and were both made models and built a model railway, so all the pieces were there...for some reason I just didn't bring them together!

Bit gutted now that I didn't. Could have had way more fun with my star wars toys than I did!

Yep, Ditto to Gary's comment above....

Built all manner of things as a kid and had a dad who was into Railway modelling as was I ...... no idea why I didn't end up building Echo Base playsets to run amok in.... Guess the toys kept me occupied enough as was..

Still build models nowadays...One day I must knock something up....kind of envisage an Echo base layout where the figures zoom around in transports running on O gauge track... hmmmm..

....my current exhibition layouts below, out of interest....

Nice. I used to have 7' by 4' railway above my bed.

It is strange. I used to build all kinds of bases for model soldiers, even vehicles.

Maybe it was the fact that Star Wars had so many playsets and vehicles that I didn't want anything looking out of place!

Never made a playset as such, but me and my best friend created Endor/Ewok village in the newly planed Hebe bushes at the end of his road, they were perfect scale and the word chipping used as a mulch around them was really cool to use as 'logs' when taking out the AT-ST and to drop from the glider too!
