Ben Kenobi is also in plentiful supply.

I remember these being sold for 50p on the local market stalls. Boxes of them.

I am not sure, but it is the only meccano card I have heard about also exported in the 80s.

In denmark you could buy the meccano jawa moc in the stores in 85,86 maybe 87 I do not remember 100% the year but it was just before all the star wars was gone from the stores for 1.95 Danish KR that is £0,22 today. Wish I had bought a lot of them and kept them as moc

Yes, this one one of the figures that there were tonnes left towards the end of the run (believe the Jawa was last in the Meccano run)

This is a good read and mentions the ones in Denmark as well - http://trilogo.info/features/faetter-br-the-great-danish-trilogo-sale/

My Dad got me one in Cornwall around about 86-87, still have the cardback. Think he got it from Tesco but not 100% sure.

They were also in massive supply in France. I remember being on holiday in 85-86 and going into a shop to buy a star wars figure and coming away because all they had was Jawas - a wall of Jawas.

The following pic gives you an idea of how they were shipped out. I remember seeing other pics like these a while back with loads of them stacked up. There are literally thousands out there in the collecting community. Toytoni had and may still have hundreds. There is no reason they should be worth as much as they are. I would argue they are probably the most common carded figure available.

No he never had the card backs. What people forget is Toni has had just as much if not more genuine stock than the questionable stuff.

One of these on eBay for £159 - bit damaged. But is that a decent price or is it too much ?

Having seen it in flesh with the seller, the answer is no. Big hole at the top of the bubble and not the best cards but the seller is willing to do a deal out of ebay. He'll probably take £100 - £120 i think judging from the discounts he's given me on other MOC. When i first started buying vintage on ebay in 2000 there were no shortage of these Jawa meccano cards available at £20 each.

These things have often been £100-120 for a really good condition one.

But thanks to FB groups and some of the twonks that inhabit them that these things have gone up stupidly.

They are THE most common of all Jawa cards. By far.

Don't rush to buy one - one will turn up, will be in good condition and will be a better price.

As with everything at the moment, you need to see this in comparison with the rest of the market. And the fact is, that ...

Oh ... actually I can't finish that thought as the stats don't support it! Was going to say that the Kenner cards are much more plentiful and they currently have an average of £115, so it's fair for Mecanno 20bk to be £150+

But as some of you have said already, this Meccano 20back is the most common version you can get:

Above are stats for the last 6 months sorted most common (in terms of recorded sales) to least seen. The market is not always rational!
