Hi there,

Before I go any further, I just want to thank you all first for letting me join your forum. You've made my new found - or should I say, refound - hobby a shear pleasure :) I won't be doing much selling over the next year, but I will be buying :) Which brings me to my most recent purchase. It's a Kenner 12 back A Luke Skywalker. I have no idea how much this is worth, and only hope I haven't paid too much over the odds for it :) I'd be really grateful if someone could value it for me - or at least put forward a fair guestimate.

Here are the pictures below:

Thanks in advance,

Hi Gerry ,

Values are between £1.5k to £3k on 12 A back Luke , depending on condition, graded examples will go for a lot higher .

Nice buy

Thanks, Steve.

I got it for round about £550, which from the sounds of it was a good deal :)
My 12 back A collection is growing. Think I might hit a stumbling block at an moc vinyl jawa, though. Might have to settle for a graded loose ☺

Thanks again.

Is that right? £1.5-3k on a Kenner 12a luke ??

Surely not on an ungraded one in that kind of condition? I know there have been several high grade AFA 12 Back Lukes that have sold for insane amounts but if that's the cheapest you can pick up *any* 12a Luke for no matter the condition then I would be really surprised (and shocked).

Maybe on a palitoy but I'm not having it that these are worth anywhere near that ungraded on a Kenner card. There are loads of them out there. You pay a small premium for the fact it's an a back.

Mr Sanderson, where are you? What do you price this at?

Thanks for your input guys.

I bought this thinking that it might - on a good day - get a UKG of 70%. That's my naive guestimate at the grading process :) No idea really. The figure and bubble are generally fine, it's just the card that's a bit creased. People seem to have gone mental over this figure lately. I have seen figures in really bad carded condition go for around £500. I paid around £550 for this. I just want to know that I haven't wasted my money. People are trying to get £900 for an AFA 50 12 back Princess Leia, and by looking at EBAY, it looks like Luke is more desireable than Leia right now - not to me, though :)

Do you think this might scrape a 70% UKG, or am I praying for flying bacon? What do you think?

Thanks,
GerryJ0

I was being a bit coy in my previous post. You wont get £1.5 k for it and definitely not £3k.not sure where Steve got that valuation from.

Here is a similar one from eBay. Sold for $950 USD which is about £600. You might get a bit more but I'd be very surprised if it got over a grand in the Condition it's in ungraded. Just my tuppence.

Hi there,

Yes, I saw this one, which was the reason I went for the one I bought in the end. The bubble damage on the item in your link is a bit worse than the one I bought, but the card damage is less. Very similar items. So, ungraded I am probably looking at about the price I paid for it. Graded, maybe quite a bit more. It looks like I paid about the going rate :) That'll do me :) Not looking to selling it anytime soon, anyway - collecting not selling for now.

Thanks,
Gerry

Hi Gerry,
The first 2 photos of Luke are different as one has text and numbers on the original white price area and the other dosent.
obviously the one with text would be quite a bit less but with condition i would say £500 absolute max.

Yeah I think if you make valuations on stuff in this section you definitely need to be careful not to get peoples hopes up by quoting high grade or even graded prices when talking about ungraded C7/C8 items as they really are worlds apart in terms of value.

I saw that one too Chris and a few others around the same kind of price, long gone are the days when you could get a really nice 12 Back Luke for £250 or so but they can still be had for £500-700 imo.

That's what I thought Andy, but then I realised the top of the card with the text in the box is the dsc, just creeping into shot ;)

Defo £3k for near mint and high graded examples, there is a wide range of prices , but definitely condition is the key :D .

You still did ok out of him :D

But he wanted a valuation for this one, which is neither near mint or high graded.

Hey, If it had an sku footer or even a white footer it would be worth more. Hell if it had a dt luke in there and graded 85 it would have been worth $17k

But it's not.

Yeah, I had a close look to see if it could possibly be a DT, but no luck :( From what you are all saying I don't think I paid over the odds for this. It is indeed the DSC that has the date in the price area. It confused me at the time as well :)

Thanks,
Gerry

I think the price you paid is quite good. I can't see you losing out if you ever came to sell it (I know you plan to keep it).

Ok guys , bit too quick on the button , I was talking generally about 12 A Luke skywalker , however £550 for a 12 back Luke is a great price . Always harder to gauge ungraded examples .

Next time I will read the question in my haste to answer a fellow collector
