I thought it was time I showcased my Falcon model which is an exact replica of the ESB filming miniature, it's a beast. I finally got around to taking some decent pictures today since the weather has been nice, so got it out in the garden for the best lighting. This is the result of 2 solid years of hard work and my first attempt at modelling, it was practically a 2nd full time job, iv'e put everything into this, what you're seeing is the basic kit but with all custom paintwork and battle damage, added custom 3D printed parts to scale, custom fibre optics and custom engine light.

Some technical specs -

32 inch length,
10.5kg weight,
Full steel framed internal chassis,
Cast steel quad cannons ( movable ),
Fully movable radar dish,
34x fiber optic lights ( powered by 6 LED's ),
3x internal added custom LED's,
2x internal 9v battery packs ( for powering the LED's and fiber optics )
Custom 64x LED engine light array strip ( with separate power pack source ),
23x custom 3D printed parts,
IR remote control boarding ramp.

Enjoy! :)

All 6 engine vents are custom 3D printed parts, the basic kit came with vents that were solid plastic and not see through, so I added these much higher quality parts where the grills are actually see through and have separate fans inside them.

There are a couple of fiber optic lights in the cockpit that also blink on & off.

The basic supplied kit came with an engine light strip with only 10 LED's and was quite poor in terms of brightness, so iv'e recently replaced that with a custom strip with 64 LED's, and it is bright AF.

You can actually see right through out the bottom side of the Falcon through this window, difficult to see but there is a gunners seat in there with targeting computer underneath the quad cannon, and you can see down the tunnel to the bottom where the 2nd gunners seat is facing the bottom quad cannon.

The computer console also has several blinking fiber optic lights.

The maintenance pit is custom, which I cut out of the floor and added a small box underneath with all the pipes and bits in, along with an LED.

The fiber optic cable iv'e added as R2's main eye constantly changes from red to blue.

All the boxes, barrels, R2D2 and other little bits are all 3D printed, I scratch built the large box on the wall with some random pipes on it, and made a Han Solo carbonite block from scratch by pouring 2-part resin into an ice cube tray, finished off with a green fiber optic on each side, surprisingly it's almost the exact correct scale for the main hold.

As the standard kit the corridor next to R2 ends where you see the dark line on the floor inside, it was just an open end and you could see inside the hull, so I stuck a mirror on the end of it to give the illusion of a longer corridor that looks like it leads to another room, which is just a reflection of the main hold. Even looking at this close up it's hard to tell it's an illusion and everyone who's looked at it believed what they were seeing until I told them.

Sitting in the main hold is what may possibly be the smallest handcrafted lightsaber in the world, I calved this ROTJ Luke saber out of a spare piece of plastic model sprue, it's 3 separate pieces all glued together, penny for size comparison.

That is one awesome looking bit of kit. Can see that all that time and extras have really paid off.. it's stunning.

The weathering is superb and those upgraded lights are the nuts.

Wanted to do this one myself... but wife dug her heels in... so hence I'm doing R2 instead..

Thanks guys, even now i'm still tweaking and adding little bits of detailing and paintwork here and there a year after 'finishing' it  but it's practically finished now.

Always wanted a model like this, really glad I decided to go ahead and build one it was well worth it, i'll never on my life do it again though.

Wounded  everyone's missus' always gets in the way.

Taking up space is a big issue with this too which a lot of modellers missus' also hate.

Excellent stuff.

That almost looks like an original filming model (which I guess was your aim).

I have the book called "Sculpting a galaxy" and your model could pretty much be in there.

Iv'e just found some old pics I did a year ago when I finished the model, did these for a bit of fun to see how much it could have held up as a filming model in the movies. Iv'e superimposed my model over the top of the actual movie Falcon in these shots, I had to set up lighting from certain angles when I took my pics to make sure it didn't look out of place after I photoshopped it in...
