Favourite vintage computer game box art

Another C64 classic of mine that I forgot about, loved the art on this...

Some good ones here.

Wasted hours of my life on Street Fighter 2, what a game though!

Never played Blood Money but the cover art is very interesting...

A few more below, I love the fact that the Escape from the planet of the robot monsters has a £9.99 Boots price tag on it.

That Harlequin cover looks terrifying.

I had Escape From The Planet of The Robot Monsters on the C64 too, used to love the box art as it was unique to anything else I had, and it's a good game too, found it hard as a kid fighting those huge robot bosses though as I could never seem to figure out how to kill them.

Used to love going to Boots to browse through the cassette game rack, bought Hawkeye from there, and the once my older bro shop lifted Buggy Boy from Boots, good times!

Used to spend hours on these simple, yet addictive games, I assume that Mastertronic, Ocean, Capcon, Codemasters and Gremlin all went to the wall years ago or were swallowed up by other programing houses?

Loving these piccies guys.... retro porn. Will hook out my ZX games over this weekend, and see if there's any I have that aren't already posted up.

Haha I was going to post a pic of my Turbo Outrun box this afternoon but you've beat me to it, so i'll second your post.

Great box art too, R-Type was also cool, and I used to love the Vigilante cover, makes me laugh how nearly every single fighting game of that time showed punks with flip knives and bats n ****.

R type, an absolute favourite of mine

There's some classics here, great artwork and great games. I've picked up a few retro games over the last couple of years, tapes just for the artwork and nostalgia and SNES/Megadrive to play too. A couple here I played loads in the arcade and nice covers.

Paperboy!!!, used to love that on the C64, hard as ****, but loved the stunt track at the end of each level. Great iconic artwork too!

The Shinobi art is great, screams Megadrive! :)

If you guys are all into retro video gaming you should really read Ready Player One by Ernest Cline before it comes out as a movie later this year directed by Steven Spielberg. It's a right 80s nostalgic riot with loads of nods to Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Dungeons & Dragons and shed loads of video gaming reference.

Here's a link to the trailer if you haven't seen it though that doesn't really highlight how obsessed with the 80s it really is. Definitely recommend reading the book first.

Ah yes! Yie ar Kung fu, used to love that game on the C64, sitting there in a dark room with my older brother watching it load and hearing that epic Ocean loading music and playing it on school nights, special times.

Read Player One, iv'e gotta say i'm not excited about it, the trailer just reminds me of a cheap novelty film like Pixels or something. I'll wait till I see reviews and then give it a shot, books are a no no for me though they give me a headache.

Well there's three classics that I grew up with to, I didn't own one of them, all taped off on some cheap TDK's.......thinking about it I didn't even ever own a Spectrum  .

My good friend was given a 1K B&W ZX81 for Christmas from the Kays catalog and received a 16K instead, that didn't work so he sent it back and months later they sent him a colour 48K Spectrum (still for the price of the 1K one), result! I do remember the cover art for the three games mentioned though and really loved them, the one game that I feel still really holds up well though from the Spectrum is Knight Lore, that game's amazing.
