Is Aurebesh considered part of the Star Wars intellectual property?

As far as I understand, all characters, ships, and other elements from Star Wars are protected by the franchise. So If I wanted to write a book based on the the elements within Star Wars such as ships and weapons then this would not be possible(?).

My question: Is it permissible to use a free-for-commercial-use Aurebesh font in a non-Star Wars-related book, or does the Star Wars franchise still retain control over Aurebesh, irrespective of the font maker's permission for commercial use?
