Hi all, here is my R5 D4 which is my own childhood toy, probably acquired at Christmas or birthday 1979 or '80. It is well played with : after I had done with it both my sons played with my collection as they were growing up too

. I only learned it was a red bar variant maybe 5 or 6 years back.
Can anyone tell me if these were confirmed as being released on Palitoy cardbacks? I'm assuming so.

Very nice! Probably the most sort after variant at the moment. Although doesn't really do it for me, I can understand the appeal.

I'm with you there theforceuk, not quite sure why these have gone so mental price wise, though having a childhood figure be it a red bar R5 or other is always pure gold, sadly I can't help on your question, I've only seen a couple of carded examples & from memory both were kenner.

AFA 85's go for £800+, beaters go for £200+!

The guy I asked owns a Kenner 21A and he said examples are known on Kenner, Star Wars, ESB and ROTJ cards. He said he's never heard of a Palitoy example but that's not to say there aren't or weren't any. @Dad of Luke

There's an AFA 75+ on eBay at the moment. Kenner 21A, BIN price of $7950! I've been sent on offer of $7155.
