STAR WARS: REBELS NEW TV SHOW

It's really great to hear the original music in the trailer and although the space battle stuff and original stormtroopers looks to be fairly high end the main character design has got me slightly worried. I can't help but think of the Droids series when I look at that new Jedi and feel that it may have been slightly Disneyfied.

I've just finished watching all the seasons of The Clone Wars and except for the first 2 thirds of season 5 (which looked liked the animators and story team were having some time off), it really did grow from strength to strength! Some of those episode arcs were really well made with the bounty hunter story lines and Ahsoka dropping out of the Jedi order, not to mention the whole Ventress character, Mandalorians and Yoda finale. Hopefully Rebels will continue to build on the strongest episodes from this series but I do wonder if they're going to try to aim a little younger with it. Maybe it's just that the Clone Wars had that nice scratchy colour palette to it that now looks to be smoothed out on this new series, but from the clips I don't quite see any real progression from what has already been released.

Time will tell and who knows how it'll play out until it's properly released, it's always difficult to know for sure when looking at short clips (anyone remember how amazing the Episode one teaser looked when it was first released?.........actually scratch that, I've just looked at it again - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uo5PYJvAAMI :lol: ).

I'll still be watching it once it's released and I'm really looking forward to seeing the design closer to the original trilogy.

I wasn´t sure 100% at first. Didn´t really liked Freddy Prince Jr and the look of some characters... they seemed a bit of a Serenity crew living in the Star Wars universe...

But now i´m sold. The trailer looks amazing, and the soundtrack of Kevin Kinner really captured not only J.Williams spirit, but used music from A New Hope, including the ´lost´ theme for the Empire before it was changed for the Imperial March. That is great!

Still only managed to find about the first 2 or 3 series of Clone wars on Youtube.
 
Clone Wars gets better and better as it goes along. They only drop the ball slightly when Lucas has his eccentric prequel style ideas. You'll spot them a mile away.

Some of the last couple episodes of season 5 are amazing.

I like the pacing on this Rebels preview. Very OT.
 
I must admit I'm still not sure about this new show. It's definitely cool to see some of the old designs and it feels more familiar than the Clone wars series but I think the animation has taken a step back (probably now done in China), and it has a bit too much of a Disney feel to some of the characters for my liking.

I really enjoyed the Clone Wars series on the whole and maybe if they still have some of those writers connected with Rebels it could work out. Time will tell.

I agree with you on that Ian- I am optimistic by telling myself its for kids, but am worried about the Disneyfication of it.
