Just after reading Gary Smith's 70/80's Christmas post I think I'll state my top 10 Vehicles and Playsets
which I own.
I've also stated if I had one as a kid or not;

In reverse order;

10. Turret and Probot Set (Kid : No)
9. Slave 1 (As a kid : Yes)
8. X-Wing (Yes)
7. Imperial Attack base (No)
6. Landspeeder (Yes)
5. Palitoy Cantina, (no)
4. Tie-Fighter (No)
3. AT-AT (No)
2. Millennium Falcon (Yes)
1. Palitoy DeathStar (No)

So in summary I was too young for the Deathstar but there's no excusing my parents for not buying me an AT-AT or even a poxy Tie-Fighter would have done. Alas my childhood could have been a whole lot better....
The Palitoy company was a bit rubbish really - I used to stare lovingly at Deathstars, probots and attack bases on the back of their cards but they never used to be any stocks of them in our two main department stores. I reckon that wouldn't happen these days.

I've always had my eye out for an affordable Sand Crawler but they seem to be more expensive than a pal Deathstar so I'll just hang fire for now. The shuttle looks amazing but I presume it just has a cockpit and wing movement so limited compared to the falcon. I suppose it would be essential if your've got hoards of imperial soldiers and you want to capture the masters grand entrance which was one of the greatest moments in Stars Wars for me.

Never miss a chance to get this picture out... :D

There is quite a bit to the shuttle. You have the cockpit and ramp plus the main body opens up. Not as much room as the falcon though and certainly not as much playability.

But it's just such an awesome toy!! 8)

Some of these i never knew existed as a kid but my favourites...

1. Imperial Shuttle
2. Jabba the Hutt
3. AT-AT
4. Tatooine Skiff
5. Slave 1
6. Speeder Bike
7. Snow Speeder
8. AT-ST
9. Luke's Land Speeder
10. Ewok Village or Degoba

My problem with many of the ships even as a kid is they weren't to scale. I understand that logistically it would have been impractical but it still bothered me. And still does. I think they came closest with things like the Imperial Shuttle, Speeder Bike, AT-ST and a couple of other but some, including the Falcon were just WAY off.

Imagine how cool the Millenium Falcon would look to scale against the vintage figures... 8)

Loving that scaled photo mate! That is a v interesting point about scale! Think how big the Falcon and AT-AT would be if in scale with the figures like the actors are with the props in the films!

I never owned many vehicles/playsets as a kid but between my mates and me we had nearly all of them! So here is my choice;

1, Palitoy Death Star
2, Millennium Falcon
3, AT-AT
4, X-Wing
5, Snowspeeder
6, Slave 1
7, Scout Walker
8, Tie Fighter
9, Jabba The Hutt
10, Land Speeder

I wouldn't mind a skiff and Ewok village having just seen pictures of them.
What's different about the Glasslite tie, just different box? Could you direct me to some pictures of your tie and numbers 7 and 8 please?

The Glasslite Interceptor is shiny light grey color not the same color as other interceptors. The Glasslite Tie Fighter is also pretty cool is it metallic silver.

1. Glasslite Tie Interceptor.
2. Darth Vader's TIE Fighter with Battle Scene Playset Backdrop.
3. Battle Scene Playset Backdrop for Slave I.

Lovely, do have the packaging for the backdrops or were there just mail-away packaging?
The slave-1 backdrop looks exactly the same as the tie-fighter one with the exception that it appears to be missing some of the edging?

They are in a normal Darth Vader box and Slave one box. But there is a yellow sticker on the box that says special offer and show a picture of the backdrop that is inside the box. Yes the backdrops is the same, they cut the slave cardboard so it could fit in the box.

You can read more about it here :D

1. First lightsaber - yes, a little blue handled torch with a 12" plastic tube, remember seeing it in a catalogue, still the centre piece of my collection.
2. Millennium Falcon - yes and would love to see a picture of my face when I opened it!
3. AT AT Walker - yes, couldn't believe the size of it
4. X Wing - yes, opening wings!
5. Snowspeeder - yes, begged my mum and dad for another Luke X Wing figure so I could have 2 pilots.
6. Y Wing fighter - no but now yes as I got it this Christmas!
7. Tuantaun - yes, anything to do with ESB and especially Hoth was a winner for me
8. Scout Walker - yes, the year I got it we had lots of snow - I had to be dragged inside to eat!
9. B Wing fighter - yes, my last big SW toy and still one of my favourites
10. Speederbike - yes, just so cool. The day I got this I was showing some friends (they lived in 5th floor flat) when it exploded over the balcony - Bolt couldn't have run down those stairs quicker than me!

1) At At - (yes) was the centerpiece to all my Star Wars adventures as a kid
2) Snowspeeder - (yes) a great toy, fantastic design and great play features
3) Death Star Space Station - (no) Finally got this last year for Christmas...a superb toy
4) Speederbike - (yes) Quality toy!
5) Rebel Transport - (yes) Not much love for this toy but I always loved it...You could carry all your figures around the house in the coolest looking carry case
6) Y-Wing - (no) Finally got this last month....brilliant
7) TIE Interceptor - (no) I've owned a few loose ones over the year but didn't have it as a kid...a friend did and I was always in awe of it
8) TaunTaun - (yes) I lost Yoda in that for a while...finally got him out though!
9) X-Wing - (yes) Got it for my birthday along with various He-Man toys...good memories
10) Slave 1 - (no) got me a boxed Palitoy Slave last year at a bargain price. Great toy and box art

I'm really lucky in that my folks kept all the boxes for my Star Wars toys and subsequently kept all my toys, it's great knowing that the toys I loved as a child are now key features to my collection as an adult

My original SW toys are in a big cardboard box in the loft loose and probably all damaged in one way or another.
My collection is all bought from 1998 ish onwards.
No falcon in your top 10? or have you never owned one  ?

Here's my top ten:

1) Landspeeder - no, but all my mates had them... always played with theirs at any given opportunity
2) Palitoy Death Star - Kid
3) X-Wing (with Battle damage) - Kid
4) AT-AT - Kid
5) Y-Wing - no
6) Imperial Attack Base - no
7) Imperial Shuttle - no
8 ) AT-ST -Kid
9) Rebel Transport - Kid... I know its dull, but it holds such good memories and I used to take the gun seats out for 'bases'

After this list the greatest pleasure has been getting the cardboard sets as a collector such as Cloud City and Land of the Jawas, the art work is so iconic sand beautiful to me...
