Sorry for the late toy of the week post.

I did not know about the cantina playset before in 2001 when I began to collect. When I was a kid in the 80s I never saw it because it was maybe not sold in denmark. I have never seen it in
any danish childhood collections.

I knew of the playset as a kid. Surprised I never asked for it. It's a cool set. Didn't find out about the kenner version until until the mid 90's when I got one of the Sansweet books

I really loved my Palitoy Cantina as a child, and because I didn't know any different, I thought that's what every Cantina was like. However, when I first saw a Kenner 20-Back in a Hertford toy shop back in the late 70's, I was most surprised and puzzled to see not only different versions of my beloved playsets, plus also a curious green lizard thing!

Of course these days we know what I was seeing, but back then it was most mysterious! However, by the time I got back into collecting vintage in the mid 90's, the Kenner Cantina was definitely on my radar and wants list, and eventually I managed to get one.

I imagine by now most people are probably familiar with the differences between the Palitoy and Kenner versions of the Cantina, however for those who are not, it's not just the packaging which is different. As with the Land of the Jawas playsets, every single aspect of the Palitoy Cantina is different to the Kenner one:

Name: _ Creature Cantina Action Playset. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Cantina.

Base: _ Dark yellow, hard plastic, moulded bar & table, action features. _ Bright yellow, flimsy plastic, no bar/table, card-backed, no action features.

Doors: _ Brown plastic doors which slot into doorframe & base. _ _ _ _ _ _ Light grey cardboard doors with silver stickers for hinges.

Backdrop: _ Brown-backed, thicker cardboard, no cutouts. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ White-backed, thinner, taller card. Cutouts for fitting into base & doorframe.

Accessories: _ None. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Cardboard bar with plastic top, plastic table, 2 figure stands, action lever.

I do love your dioramas! The presence of the figures really finishes off these playsets nicely
