I really loved my Palitoy Cantina as a child, and because I didn't know any different, I thought that's what every Cantina was like. However, when I first saw a Kenner 20-Back in a Hertford toy shop back in the late 70's, I was most surprised and puzzled to see not only different versions of my beloved playsets, plus also a curious green lizard thing!
Of course these days we know what I was seeing, but back then it was most mysterious! However, by the time I got back into collecting vintage in the mid 90's, the Kenner Cantina was definitely on my radar and wants list, and eventually I managed to get one.
I imagine by now most people are probably familiar with the differences between the Palitoy and Kenner versions of the Cantina, however for those who are not, it's not just the packaging which is different. As with the Land of the Jawas playsets, every single aspect of the Palitoy Cantina is different to the Kenner one:
