Was the droids line ever released in the UK?

I always thought they weren't.

But have heard rumours of the droids A-wing with a Palitoy Sticker on it. Don't know how true that is

They were apparently going to be though. I've got a Canadian Kea Moll quality control sample that's marked "For Palitoy."

Can guarantee at least some of them were for sale here, I clearly remember buying an R2 about 87-88 in a toy shop/rock shop in Whitby. Had the figure for ages, lost the sabre on the train on the way home, no idea whether it was a Canadian cardback or not, had it till about 95 when I gave it to my younger cousin.

According to Radio Times Genome, Droids never aired in the UK until January 1988. That would tally with your dates, Benny.
