This got passed around the office today (Should be noted this was from another area of the business I work in) I've obviously anonymised the email as I rather like my job and want to keep it.
It should also be noted that the large company I work for has many mangers from many backgrounds recruited and promoted by many other managers from different backgrounds, the claims made below are rubbish.
To all those concerned,
I have sadly decided to hand in my resignation with immediate effect. Unfortunately I
have been left with no real choice as my position within COMPANY A and particularly the
FUN department has become untenable due to recent events.
As most of you who have received this email will know I recently applied for the
position of FUN team manager in which I was given a final interview
on Wednesday of this week. I was 'unsuccessful' despite outperforming my
counterpart Mr BOB in both interviews. A fact backed up by the subsequent
feedback from both Mr KHAN and Mr JAFAR.
The 'reasoning' I was given by Mr SMITH was that 'my profile wasn't known enough
amongst CALL.' This left me dumbfounded as nowhere did it mention with in the
job specification that I had to win a popularity contest amongst a section of the
department I don't even work on.
It is quite apparent that Mr SMITH reason for not giving me the position despite
performing and scoring the highest on both interviews, is not credible at all. This is
further substantiated by the fact that Mr SMITH just a few months back offered Mr
JOHN WEST a then agent from the HELP department and complete unknown in
the department the position of CALL manager. Mr WEST earned the
position on merit as I did, as he performed the best on the interview. He wasn't given
the frivolous and absurd excuse of 'not having a high enough profile on CALL.'
Upon further reflection and investigation it becomes apparent that Mr SMITH
decision to appoint Mr BOB instead of myself was not based solely on my job
application and interview performances as it should have been but instead it was
predicated on nepotism, politics and race.
The reason of 'I am not known enough' is sadly code for I am not a white male. I
diligently worked on my personal product portfolio for the last few months in which I
took a leadership role in 2 teams, where I conducted many briefs, group and one to
one coaching. I also directly mentored 10 new agents and ultimately both teams
under my guidance become the top performing teams. I did all this whilst
establishing and sustaining my own performance as a one of the very top performing
agents on the campaign.
In addition to this I successfully ran my own business importing products from China
and selling them worldwide on the ebay and amazon platforms prior to joining COMPANY A for five years. I also during this time temporarily took up a position as a project
manager in which I implemented the ecommerce section of a young and fledgling
Chinese business consultancy based here in the UK. Both these aforementioned
ventures were resounding successes.
Finally I am graduate with a first class honours degree in business management and
I have worked at management level for ELECTRICAL RETAILER which like the FUN
department is a fast paced, sales driven and customer focused environment. My
point with outlining my skills and experience is to prove that I was more qualified for
the role than Mr BOB which was proved unequivocally throughout the interview
process where once again I greatly out performed him.
I can no longer carry on working for a channel manager like Mr SMITH who is
completely devoid of integrity and abuses his power and makes decisions on
managerial recruitment based on who seeks to be 'friendly' with him and even more
unfortunately race. I firmly believe the evidence outlined above proves that Mr
SMITH is corrupt, racist {in a clandestine manner} and fixated on running a boys
club in which preferably you are a white male. I am aware that retentions has many
Asian managers which is inevitable as Asians make up the large majority of the
workforce. However if Mr SMITH can recruit a white male above an Asian, even if
the Asian is infinitely and unequivocally the better choice, he will do so.
I hope that the senior managers i.e. Mr MACKAY take the sinister reasons behind this
resignation seriously and endeavour to uphold the core values of not only COMPANY A
as an equal opportunities employer but also our society and launch a vigorous and
pragmatic investigation into the untoward behaviour of Mr SMITH. What he has
done and the way I have been treated is completely unacceptable and an utter
disgrace. I hope Mr SMITH is thusly punished accordingly.
Finally despite the negativity surrounding my departure, I would like to thank my
team and in particularly my manager Mr JAFAR for their enduring support and
love throughout my time at COMPANY A. It was an absolute pleasure and honour
working with the best sales team and manager in FUN. I would not have got to
the verge of a management role within 9 months without my colleagues and it's such
a shame that it was overt nepotism, favouritism and clandestine racism which
prevailed this week. I wish all my team the very best going forward and I will keep
the memories from the time we worked together in my heart forever.
