I know some people can't stand them! Thought it would be an idea to get peoples opinions and I made a poll

Personally I never was that fussy but in the last 2 years have found myself to at least try and buy clear just for my own enjoyment, if they turn whilst in my collection at least I had a chance to enjoy them clear and take pictures / display them etc.

I try not to buy yellow if I can but sometimes its not possible to find certain items clear without blowing your money away!

Is there anyone that really doesn't care if its yellow or not?

Would be cool to get everyone's real views!

WOW! Those results so far seem pretty CLEAR!

LOL - nice

It can be quite soul destroying to watch them yellow in your collection after being clear, its a horrible downside to carded figures with bubbles prone to yellowing.

Has anyone got any pictures of the yellowest bubble they have seen? I will try and dig one out later!

Now, BROWN bubbles is something that I can't stand...

Everyone knows how i feel about yellow and brown bubbles lol

I have only clear bubbles in my collection however the Meccano Jawa MOC i got off Andy about 9 months ago is developing a slight tint mind but this MOC's bubble is prone to yellowing so ill just leave that one.

Apart from specific Clear Bubble MOC's like Luke Gunner Pic ROTJ that command super big premiums it is relatively easy just to buy clear bubble examples imo.

A slight tint isnt to bad but still irritating as its a downward spiral.

Proper yellowed bubbles look awful imo

and brown bubbles well dont even go there lol.

I voted "I don't mind a tint but would rather it clear!"

If I happen to win a figure with a clear bubble then I look at it as a nice bonus. I feel with my character focus and the many variations out there that I can't be too picky. That's just what I get for choosing a ROTJ character for a focus. :)

I would have to agree about the brown bubbles though. Those are just sick. :(

Then again, I would take a yellow carded figure over a repro one any day of the week!

I hate yellow bubbles in every form but i would accept yellow before i would ever have a repo.

Good post & Poll Joe.

For my own collection it is the condition of the cardback and an undented bubble that takes a large precedent over the colour of bubble. I would always much rather have a quality cardback than a poor one with a clear bubble. I can totally understand 'yellow-haters' as who ever saw a yellow bubble on the rack in the 70's or 80's? I wouldcertainly 'love' to have a graded collection with no 'Y' designations but my budget will never allow that unfortunately.

You can see here what I mean regarding my preferences: http://threads.rebelscum.com/showfl...tagedisplay&Number=3669433&fpart=1&PHPSESSID=

The original Luke Farmboy is a great case in point - it is utterly MINT in every way apart from the yellowed bubble.

Howabout a poll for price stickers? Now those are something I can NOT stand!

Cheers,
Christian

P.S I think that Grant just hates anything that doesn't look like it's just rolled off a far eastern production line yesterday! :p

I feel that any condition bubble is ok,i'm not big on cracks to be fair though.

I understand hardcore, high end collectors wanting perfect but for normal everyday collectors i'm sure yellow bubbles are not really a major sticking point, especially after all the u grade nonsense that goes on nowadays.

I'm very happy to have ANY factory sealed items from 70s and 80s and feel lucky to have them, whatever condition they are in.

Cheers

Thanks for your input Christian and Browny!

I think Browny hit on a point that should strike bells in everyone's minds (especially those U graders/collectors :( ), we are very lucky to have any surviving 70'S , 80'S toys existing in any state to collect before thinking about condition.

With the vast amount of product still available for SW toys and the difference of budgets of course there will always be people who can and will pay more for things in better condition, when I started I was doing so much more to the tune of "WOW Vintage star wars !! I want it and I want to keep it safe in my collection ,regardless of its condition!" I had beaters, yellow bubbles, stapled cards and even bubbles with cracks!

Now I have a set path in collecting and have a small collection I seem to be a bit more picky just to keep the hunt going a bit longer, it would be easy to amass any collection if condition didn't matter which is why very hard to find items in mint condition are a joy to look at and a bastard to hunt down!

The reason for this post came out from a discussion I was having with Shawn recently about a figure I was offered last year that was at the time clear , like crystal clear. I passed as the figure was way out of my budget and for what it was I felt it was overpriced.

Less than a year later the same seller offered it again to me and sent a new picture, it is now yellow.

Moral of the story? - paying extreme prices for clear bubbled MOC figures that are notorious for going yellow is a waste of cash and could be better spent on more collectibles.

I'm only just starting to pick up a few MOCs. After seeing people cry over their bubbles yellowing I figured this was going to happen anyway so any MOC is a good MOC to me, especially if it's cheap :) I can always send them off for a U grade later

I am with Christian and Shawn on this one :)
I'd rather have a nice card and yellow bubble than nice bubble and crappy card anyday of the week.
+ Gotta make exceptions now for hard to find MOC's for Focus so.....
Price Stickers Tongue arse also IMO

AND LOL at grunters OCD :)

I would make an exception for a rare figure but much prefer a nice clear bubble, a tint doesnt bother me too much.

That's my attitude as well Joe.
If you give me a choice between clear and yellow, like most people, I take clear everytime, but I don't see the point in paying a big premium for something that's only going to go yellow eventually. Obviously with some MOC's that's more likely to happen (POTF are a bastard to find with clear bubbles) and others are that rare that you can't really be that picky, assuming you actually want to complete your run/focus!

actually i like the yellowing that way i can start collecting different shades of yellow bubbles as well as differnt colour variations of the fig

i kid i kid, i voted i dont care but when given the option i'd go with the clear bubble
