Yoda is a complete and utter failure. And a green one.

Ok guys something I've been thinking about for a while.

Yoda sits as Master of the Jedi on the council, we don't know for how long but it is likely to be considerable seeing his age. Therefore Yoda must have been integral in guidance and roles of the Jedi for probably 100s of years. He also makes it very clear to Mace that Anakin is not to be trained. Is this because he recognised that Anakin may become the most powerful Jedi?
He then fails to spot the Sith uprising. This includes pre-phantom menace before we can assume that his vision was 'clouded.' Surely there was a point where his vision was clear, and then not so clear. Hmmm wonder what that cold be.
He then duels with both Dooku and Sidious. He fails in both to achieve his goal.
After his defeat to Sidious he goes into exile. Leaves all of the surviving Jedi to just get on with it. Which is likely slaughter! Also leaves the citizens of the galaxy to the tyranny of the Emperor. Doesn't even become involved with the Rebellion.
As Obi-Wan's superior you would have thought that he'd have given guidance to Ben regarding Luke. But clearly didn't. Ben has no interaction with Luke until a fluke chance meeting.
Ben convinces Luke to visit Dagobah. Yoda won't train him at first as he's too old, but is persuaded by Ben to do so. And yet he left him alone all of these years. When was Luke to be trained? What was the plan when he went into exile? He knew he was nearing the end of his life and made no attempt to train Luke from a young age (or indeed the mysterious other). So was he hoping/expecting to die in exile and just let the galaxy get on with it?
Luke failed at the cave. What did he expect? He had a crash course in the force over a few months.
Yoda goes on about defeating Vader. But what about the Emperor? What was his plan for getting rid of the most evil person in the galaxy? Say that Luke defeats Vader but is then killed by the Emperor. What was Yoda's plan then? Vader would have been replaced with another Dark Side apprentice. Did he think that the Emperor was too strong for Luke? Is this because even the mighty Yoda was defeated? His dying words should have been that Luke must face the Emperor, not Vader.
Ben single handedly is responsible for Luke's training and confidence in defeating the Empire. He deserves a lot more credit than he gets.

Personally I think you'd struggle to find another puppet who could have achieved even half of those feats that you claim to be failures!

Seconded, Ryan. He's also portraying some heroic Jedi Master moves in the latest (here in the UK) Vodafone advert.

Mmmmmmm

Now then

Yoda was a Jedi Grand master who died at the exact age of 900

There were other members of his species that were Jedi masters and Jedi all but one showed calmness, patience and balance as virtues, I think this is reflected in using the force for defence as opposed to attack

Yoda did not have the killing instinct but the honour instinct of defeat into submission as opposed to fight to the death, which puts forward the ethos of turn to fight another day, seeing the bigger picture

It s not what yoda did but the potential of what he could do, and represented the light side of the force, if he was simply portrayed as killing the dark opponents, then would we not perceive him on the edge of the abyss looking in :?:
If we look at Luke we see the same thing against Vader nd the emperor, he did not kill either,
If we look at obi wan and anakin, obi wan did not deliver the coup de grace
Obi wan also did not defeat Dooku but anakin did

So we can see a pattern
If yoda had been a bad ass killer, then his character wouldn't have worked
And he talked in badly structured basic... Cool that is 8)

So Yoda represents the light side, and balance, hence the perception of defeat, but to lose a battle does not mean the war is lost :D

Someone has to defend the little green fecker :D

I always assumed the "other" was leia.

Hhhmmm. You'd almost think he just makes **** up as he goes along! Lol. But then, we have the prequels so we know he doesn't do that.
