How do people display there loose in open space?
How do people display there loose in open space?
As per title.
I don't have a closed cabinet
I have shelfs but dust is a issue.
How do you display your loose in a open environment?
I was dabbling in the idea of loose acrylic cases but that's an eye watering amount.
Ideas thoughts.
Thanks Chris

You could use something like a fish tank upside down or a custom acrylic case to display a number of figures?

Heres how I display mine, every couple of weeks I will have a change around and clean my shelves, i dont have room for cabinets so use black matt floating shelves

This box is really good that i picked up from eBay years ago but I'm sure you could still find it somewhere. It also came with some separate, removable steps so that you can stack your figures on display.

I built this display but it was very straightforward. If you have a series of shelves anyway it would be easy to adapt this style with the glass door and some infills either end. It does a decent job of keeping dust out but isn’t 100% sealed
I ordered the glass online and the hinges from eBay. Make sure you get toughened glass though just incase something doesn’t go quite right!

@Drewtegg makes (the most!) amazing wall cabinets, but also has some superb smaller stand alone cases as well. Worth giving him a shout.
Collecting SW since 1980.

Definitely something I've been thinking about. Dusting is a bit of a pain - I try and make it a fun activity by listening to a podcast and actually taking the time to handle each figure. I used canned air for many years but a wee bit worried that in contains additional chemicals so switched to a camera air puffer, takes longer but works well.
I do like the idea of having them behind glass/acrylic in a custom display case to stop the dusting but I know it would mean once I set them up I'd be reluctant to take them out to play with them

^ that's a really cool set up
I've only just started putting together a loose run in the last few months having previously sold up to fund other more important things! Made some progress recently with new arrivals from forum members (thanks to Sean and Alisdair) but I have a long way to go as you can see ! I picked this backing board / shelving up from Star Wars displays on Facebook a year or two back.

Re: How do people display there loose in open space?
Dusting figures especially with a large collection soon sours the milk IME, I certainly got bored of it quickly Poncho, well I am lazy by nature what do you want
Must be about 12 + years back I got bored of the dusting & made myself several acrylic cabinets to house them, it's a very simple build & they are easy enough to knock together, they have been a real blessing, I need to make some acylic fronts for one of my bigger displays as even though everythings in acrylic cases the dreaded dust builds up on all of the buggers & cleaning 100++ cases is a total ball ache, need to pull my thoumb out with that asap.
Couple of images below to give you the idea, if you fancy making some I'm happy to give you some measurements & close up's of how they are put together buddy.

Hey frank.
It's been a while. Hope everything is ok with you and your family in these uncertain times
Love the acrylic housing. I dont have the space for that sadly. Once the kids have left home I'm having a man cave but that's not for another 15 years or so

I ended up with acrylic in front of Mocs and a cabinet... limits what you can display but let's you change things easily

Re: How do people display there loose in open space?
To be honest mate I wouldn’t bother trying to display them in the open. It’s so much easier to just have the whole lot behind plastic or glass. You can get or make cabinets that hang on the wall that are no bigger than a poster or big picture. Mines 10cm deep and can hold up to 132 figures. And you never have to worry about a speck of dust
