Rotting /mouldy scout walker
Hey guys. Just a question I have picked up a vintage ATST but there is a type of what looks like fungal bloom and a very strong musty smell on the plastic. The plastic looks to be breaking down too. Has anyone has this - and Any ideas or fixes?

Unfortunately if mould or discolouration has penetrated the plastic, there's not much you can do about it. You can use bleach to whiten plastic, but it's not recommended by most as it could deceive potential buyers of the actual condition, and potentially weaken or break down the plastic.

Yeah I took that view. I’m going to bin it. I’ve taken the top gun and the side guns and chest plate off as they are made of a much harder plastic and seem to be fine

Seems a shame to bin it. Could you paint it for a custom?
Collecting SW since 1980.

It really smells I’m afraid and the plastic is breaking down badly. If you run a nail over it it just scrapes away

Don't bin it mate. I have sold one on ebay before now similar condition with the plastic discoloration no matter what you try it wont come off. Think I got about £15 for it incomplete. It will have value to someone.
Re: Rotting /mouldy scout walker
Wash it in warm soapy water see how that goes
My childhood at-st this past year has turned patchy and even powdery I've since stripped all the good parts and attached it to a none degrading at-st.

I’ve tried vinegar, baking soda, fairy liquid. It damn stinks.
But yes maybe I will try to flog. Will be very honest about the state though.
Anyone know what the offending infection is - mould? Very strange.

Season 3 of Mandalorian will feature a scrap heap ATST and the value of your toy will sky rocket
Would be a shame to bin it though. List it on ebay with clear description and I'm sure it will make someone happy

Plastic degredation combined with mould. My childhood at-st was always yellowed since the late 90s. Now that I live in a poorly ventilated house where mould is an issue its turn like yours this past 18 monthsAdmiral Snackbar wrote: ↑Wed Feb 24, 2021 11:53 pmI’ve tried vinegar, baking soda, fairy liquid.
