What was your personal evolution of gaming?
First I played was a friends Atari 2600 and then my Aunts Videopac 2000. But the first I owned myself were;
Amstrad CPC 464
Sega Megadrive
Sega Saturn
PS1
PS2
PS3
PS4
I was also recently given an Xbox 360 to play KOTOR 1&2 on.

Re: Your evolution of gaming
My father was in the industry of computing from the early personal computer days of the late seventies.
We had:
Commodore Pet
Some (lots!) of those early TV Pong multigames.
Apple II
BBC B
BBC Master
ZX81
ZX Spectrum+ (mine)
40 X Dragon. (They were cheap)
PC's from the 8086 onwards till his passing in 2013.
My older bro and I used these for gaming (him more than me - I watched!) I played all the devices that were around at the time. Atari VCS/2600, Atari ST, Amiga, Amstrad, Commodore 64, Master System, NES, Gameboy,
And then when I got a little older, I swapped onto:
Megadrive
SNES
Playstation
Playstation 2.
Then kind of "grew out of it" (girls and drink)
I did buy a GBA and got given a PS handheld thing by work - as I travelled a lot.
THEN I met my future wife and the next weekend bought myself a Xbox 360.
I did enjoy playing that. Dead Rising and Oblivion were the last two games I completed.
Then I moved in with my now wife and all gaming stopped. Permanently.
That was over ten years ago now.

Re: Your evolution of gaming
For me it’s this:
87 ish Spectrum +2
92/3 ish Master System
99 Dreamcast
01 PS2
11/12 GameCube
15/16 Dreamcast
19/20 Saturn, Xbox 360, Megadrive, Mega CD & N64 (all very briefly)
20 PS3 loaded with retro
21 - still have the Dreamcast and just picked up a GameCube again
My other half also has a Wii so I’ve been able to play GC games on that.
I suspect this year will be the year I get a current gen console for the first time since my PS2 but that will only be because I expect my lad to want a Switch for Christmas

Re: Your evolution of gaming
Great idea for a thread,
My dad had some weird desktop thing in the early 80’s with rubber keys (not a speccy) and a game called Zak Banic.
I begged them for a NES but wasn’t allowed and got an Amstrad 464 instead so I could learn to code. All I learnt was:
10 - print “my brother is gay”
20 - goto 10
I did enjoy the games on the 464 but when I could afford my own stuff
Game boy
SNES
N64
Game boy advance
GameCube
Wii
Wii-U
SNES mini
Switch
Nintendo for life!!!
I also have a Dreamcast, ps2, ps3 genesis and mega CD but those are recent additions.

Game Boy
SNES
N64
PC

Nintendo Wii
Adult Hood! lol Just don’t have the time, I’m pretty obsessed once I get into a game, so scared of dipping my toes in.
Shocking I never had a Saga or PlayStation, always loved the Mario games.

Bugger, I forgot hand helds!
I had a Gameboy when they did a yellow one, so mid to late 90’s I guess? And I had a PSP about 2 years ago

Re: Your evolution of gaming
My evolution of gaming involves both my own computers and consoles and other peoples, not to mention the arcades..! So many good games in the 80's and 90's, some really stick in your mind. Machines I owned goes something like this -
Atari 2600 Woody
BBC Acorn Electron
Nintendo
Super Nintendo
Amstrad PC (Dads)
Playstation
Playstation 2
XBOX 360
I prob played on almost every other computer and console at some point because all my friends and relatives had them. I remember many a session on the Megadrive and on the Dreamcast and on my mates XBOX. I've kind of gone full circle, started buying old retro games and consoles a few years ago and recently installed a big ass TV in the bedroom. Have got it all set up now with a drawer full of games, I can play in peace whenever I like. I've actually just started collecting a few cassettes of some of my favourite 80's computer and arcade games, just to have them.
