BBC Arena Cinema from 1978

Post by chipsteak » Sun Nov 04, 2018 3:39 pm

I acquired this programme which coincided with the UK release of Star Wars. Arena Cinema seemed to focus on one film for the main part of show them have other reviews etc toward the end.

There's some behind the scenes stuff in here I haven't seen elsewhere too.

That was great, Declan. Thanks for uploading.

Great BTS footage and some vintage goodness.
MH, GK & JB still seemed enthusiastic, even though at his point, they must have been sick to death talking about the film.
Shame the presenter was a pompous killjoy. Dear oh dear.

Yes, many thanks for posting the link, that was a terrific watch, with superb behind the scenes footage and interviews I've not seen before. The whole thing was excellent, even if the Arena presenter was a stuffy, stuck-up, rather humourless, judgemental ass at the end

Ha yes, the presenter is a great example of pompous late-night BBC2 critics of a time gone by.

You'll find other UK-centric Star Wars oldness on my YouTube account.

Definitely a shot in the dark, but is there a copy of Michael Rodd's Screen Test from January '78 in existence?
AFAIK this is one of my earliest memories of seeing SW footage.
