So a week on from my first experience of Farthest from!
I thought I would share with yeh all my day........
After setting off at 7am me , matt and Tony made the 3 1/2 hour journey to Fordham bridge. On arrival we were surprised to see the queue wasn't too bad and soon found ourselves inside & holding some vintage in out hands! My first impression was ( I think I can speak for the others as we'll here) was .... This was worth the journey. Friendly faces, a superb selection of Star Wars vintage collectable items and a great range of prices to match . We found ourselves split up and each drawn to our own personal focuses, Mocs, cardbacks ,ships/vehicles ,baggies or odd ball items it was all there and all to buy!
I have to say I was quickly amazed at how much time had already passed when the lads suggested grabbing a pint opposite at 1.30 pm!
But even without buying Anything I could see how time would fly ,just working your way through all the stuff ,browsing away and of course meeting /chatting away to the collectors there.
I think I managed to meet most the SWFUK lads who were there that day... (Was great to put a face to the names)
As regards what I did buy I found some absolute bargins!
Gary smith Had a boxed Rebel Troop Transporter virtually complete ( minus escape hatch ) of which he said had been on he's stall for a few years for sale . This is the only ship that I got as a kid-Me and my 2 brothers would take it in turn filling it up and carrying it around the room and then crash landing it. I wanted it and when he said £8 i wasn't leave it there any longer ! I couldn't wait to give these to George next day
Then of course Nick IOW who although had a small stall , man he made up for it with some bloody cheap Mocs , and a lot of em too. Prices of £20-£30 & I picked up a couple too among the flying hands ! A Jawa sw20 back ,although some obvious issues ( bubble virtually off) it displays super in the Arcylic case it came with for a nice £45 - I was well chuffed. Also graded LXW for my figure focus for a nice £20 was another reason to make my smile even bigger .he also had a boxed Wampa which I quickly snapped up for George ( he was doing well the lad! )
Top prices lads !
A quick chat to James martin( man I wish I got s shirt from u now!) and great to chat to palitoy junky too.
There was more bargins to be had too but I ll let the lads share there story's.
I made sure I spoke to the Vintage rebellion podcast lads Rich,Jez,stu,Peter and Grant which was a pleasure, as nicer lads in person as they are through my earphones ! In fact Grant sold me he's old figure Carry case for a cool £5 which George will soon be filling up with he's figures .
It was great seeing Jez s stall with he's beautifull Mocs all laid out .Some serious Mocs there mate.... I was really pleased to see your sales going well although slightly let down that as this was the first time I've meet yeh in the Fleash , you wasn't wearing your " gangster rap gear" and no live rapping
Another was Jamie on the gw acrylic stall who was a gent and too Geoff on he's stall . He explain to me a bit about the array of baggies he had on display for sale and also Marc (star wares) who sold me the ROTJ pencil he had ( very nice).
Of course It was super to meet and thank David tree himself also for he's good work on putting on this day !
It was great chatting to Edd grant too and congratulation him on he's recent Fett pick up ,Ben, Marc Walsh, Jez, scruffylookinNH ,rob marsh & Kirsten and Peter again who as left sold me the Rebellion fanzine ( great read!) among others before we decided to off around 3ish.
I can't mention everyone there but lads it was a pleasure to meet yeh all ( hopefully u can say the same about meeting me
The journey home was a good one as we spent it chatting about what we saw, what we brought and things we had Learnt. As we all tucked into our grub in some restaurant in Newmarket we spoke of the day's highlights and I have to say it was clearly the people we had met.
The conversations we shared and the just being there , soaking up the atmosphere of a proper good " old fashioned SW toy fair "
And as they say " now u done it once will you try it again?" ....Hell yeh !
Cheers ,
