Imperial Shuttle

Hi, I'm new to the forum so hello to everyone. I have what I think is a decent collection but will be pretty standard compared to alot on here! I'll post a few pictures in another post. Anyway I have bought an imperial shuttle in OK condition. It needs parts, side panel, front non moving guns, rear gun, telescopic ramp and cockpit cover. If anyone can help with these please message me or does anyone know if I can buy repo parts to fit? Second question. The top wing has a crack around the base where it fixes to the shuttle body, would STD superglue suffice? Thanks

P.s how do I add pictures?

Welcome, Mike.

To start with, I think you are going to find it cheaper to buy a complete one. This one appears to have been stripped for parts, probably due to the damage. It's usually false economy to start from a bare shell although it can be incredibly satisfying, especially if you find a few bargain bits. That'll be hard with the shuttle.

Yes, you can use superglue but you will have to be very, very sparing with it as it will squidge out of the area it's meant to be in and then you're stuffed: it'll set on the surface and look blobby or you'll wipe it away and it'll leave a streak. Either way, the repair will be obvious.

I'm not aware of repro parts but I would not touch them for any reason. Same with stickers. It's primarily a matter of principle but also because when you eventually upgrade that shuttle and sell it on, although you may declare the repro stickers/parts, the next guy may well not. As such, your innocent actions help someone down the line get ripped off and also put money into the repro scum's pockets. This forum is, on the whole, very anti-repro.

Personally, I would never add anything reproduction to an original piece. For me, that is just not an option. I'd rather have something incomplete and wait for the genuine article to turn up...which, with patience, they often do...but as stated above, missing so many parts...could take time and money...this shuttle has probably been used for parts elsewhere.

Agree with what others have said.

Generally speaking the parts will cost the same as buying a new one. Repro is always a risk when buying parts for things. Best to get a complete shuttle from someone reliable

sadly I've sold all of my spare ones!

Hi.
I can help you out with the two dark grey front guns and the rear gun that you are also missing. I know I have them somewhere, they will just take finding :)
I was in the same position myself at one point. I seem to remember the cockpit being the most difficult and expensive to find and also most parts are on USA eBay.
I know I've seen a ramp, side hatch and the guns up regularly but it will cost you from £10 to £35 a part in some cases :(

I was talking about vintage SW with an old time independent toy shop owner (37 yrs he's had the shop) before Christmas and said the shuttle was the biggest shelf warmer he had back in the day! He's a bit miffed with the prices boxed versions get nowadays. He said he ordered 7 shuttles from Coalville and struggled to sell any! Sorry for slightly going off topic here guys  .

Thanks for the replies. I do think it's satisfying bringing a near death toy back from the brink. Threaders20 I would buy those parts you mention for the right money, have a look and msg me with what you want for them. Thanks for the repo advice all, I'll try to abide by that and wait for genuine parts or a better shuttle. If anyone has any other bits, let me know. :D

Welcome to the forum. It's a shame yours was apparently plundered for parts, despite the crack it seems to have good stickers and virtually no yellowing, which is rare. Unfortunately I agree with the others - completing a vehicle missing a couple of parts is usually OK, but building from a shell will cost you at least double what a complete one would, unless you are very lucky. The X-Wing is the same - you can buy a complete one for £30, yet the guns sell for £20 and the cockpit cover sells for £20.

Hi
Saw a complete one in a antique shop a couple of weeks ago but left it as it had been painted
Looking at prices should go check to see if still there
It was £70

It might be the 2002 version. Same mould but different colour and highly weathered. Also no electronics.
