How much of a refund should I ask for?

Hi guys

I bought this last week and it got damaged as it was packed in a box, with bubble wrap over the blister held in place with an elastic band. This has crushed the top 2 corners in. The seller said he'll do a part refund, but the question is, what's a fair percentage to ask for?
I reckon it would have graded straight 85's before, but god knows what now. The bubble would maybe only be a 75?
Any advice is appreciated.

How much did you pay originally - I would ask the seller what he thinks is reasonable and work from there

Cheers Iain and Pete. I was thinking 25% so on what you've said I'll start haggling at around 35%. Its with Vectis Auctions and they're being alright about it. They've got their "specialist" looking at the pics tomorrow, so at least I know what to aim for.If they wont give me that much back, I'll try for a refund!
On a side note, if anyone buys from Vectis, be careful. They double box with poly chips, but protect the bubbles only, with a tiny bit of bubble wrap and an elastic band around the blister! And there's 20% added at the end.

Was that from Vectis?
If so i would demand back your commission and vat plus p and p mate.

Yes mate, it was. I'll see what they say tomorrow, but god knows how none of my others got damaged. When all they do is auction vintage toys, you think they would know how to pack them properly. The annoying thing is, I rang to offer to send star cases for my items, but they assured me that their packing department were really good.

If they sell antiques and collectables they should know that condition is everything. A tiny hair-thin chip on a vase can devalue it by 80-90%. Vintage toys are no different. You peel open a bubble of a sealed figure ever so slightly and you can lose 80% of the value of an MOC. I'd start at 50% off mate and hope they agree.

Sorry to hear what happened my friend that is so annoying! As a fellow collector I feel your pain!! From a condition point of view it is a totally diff piece now from what you were bidding on, I can't believe those idiots in the packing department!! I hope this is a real learning curve for them!
Because they turned down your wise offer to send them star cases you should demand alot more than 25% mate, I'd be looking at 50% at least!! Fancy using an elastic band on a weak tri-logo type bubble ****ing idiots!!!

Thanks Palitoy Junkie. They offered me £25 back which I politely told them to shove up their arse! I gave them a rough cost of an AFA 85 as opposed to AFA 75 and said I either want a 50% refund or they can have it back.
I think I was lucky that the tri logo Luke gunner didn't get damaged. The tri logo bubbles are so flimsy. I'll let you know what they come back with tomorrow. They don't get it, that condition is everything and price wise, it is a completely different piece now.

Sort of! Got a refund of £65. I felt a bit sorry for the woman who was dealing with it as I was a bit abrasive!! I might have been able to get more but I'm happy enough with it. I think I'll get it graded and sell it on anyway, so I don't think I'll lose anything. Famous last words
