Just looked at the top 100 albums in the UK, as at today, quite surprised really.
George Ezra, Ed S, and Sam Smith top 3
Got to admit, big fan of Ed and of Sam Smith, IMO, great songs and songwriters .
Looking through, we have,
abba, Foo Fighters, Michael Jackson, Luther Van D, Queen, Fleetwood Mac, ACDC, Pink Floyd
So I guess what I'm saying is good music lasts, and popular music, is just that, popular, but fades.
We all love music from our formative years, which has a link ..a zeitgeist if you like, that we mentally link with a time in our lives.
Then there is music that transcends this and just blows you away, for me that can be Tu PAC, De La Soul, Run DMC, or Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross, or Wagner and Mendelssohn ....
Then we have guilty secrets...... The Proclaimers for example!
Appreciation of Art and music is a general thing, but we all have personal tastes that come into the equation.
