  Best laugh I had of the day reading this!

I'll probably die a long slow and painful death knowing my luck, so there will be time to sell them all to you guys before I croak it :)

Mark isn't having any after selling that Chewie Bandolier to someone else!

I recently sorted my will out. Well overdue, but load off my mind. I've selected someone in the family to put the items on eBay and take a set % I have specified of the final amount to go to them to pay for their time. I have left instructions on exactly how to list them, and only do it in the UK. I think that's as simple and organised as you can make it.

Wow I can't even organise what I want in my sandwiches for lunch

Is sorting a will easy? It is something i've never got round to but really should. How much does it cost?

We're not having any kids so it'll go to the wife and/or my brother and/or my preferred charity depending on who's left when I croak.

I just dropped into my local solicitors. It's a relatively big firm, so I went in to ask for a quote. £150 per person, so £300 for me and my wife. Yes you can muck about and do it yourself for a bit cheaper with downloadable forms, but I didn't want any mistakes or issues in the family, so got the pros to do it. Remember, it's not just your SW, but if you own a house and vehicles, you really don't wanna scrimp. Just booked an appointment while over shopping, you sit with someone who writes down all the details - what you own, what "money" you have, and how it's supposed to be split or who to be given to. After that they type it up formally and ask you back in to sign it. The original goes into their lock-up, and you get a photocopy.

You can get a will done for free if you use a charity. Macmillan offer this service and just ask if you could consider them with a little something.

With the way prices are going you could leave them a klaatu and they'd be stoked.

I always assumed that if I didn't make a will everything would just go to my wife. Is that not the case?

Bit of a morbid thread for a Sunday morning :D

I'm no expert, but I think probate kicks in and your wife would get everything yes.

My son will probably end up with my stuff. It's a funny thought though that all the little lies we tell about how much our stuff costs might come back and bite us in our dead butts when out relatives badly undersell really valuable stuff! Not that we'll care

No kids yet (though plan to) but at the moment the plan would be to have it all sold and the money split between my 4 nieces.

Do need to sort a will!

I'm no lawyer, but I heard something about legal issues have to be pretty bang on otherwise they could be up for question from others. When my grandmother passed away several years ago there was a big split over where her ashes were to scattered. Silly yes, but hot headed Glaswegians here. The rift hasn't healed. She didn't have a will, so it was down to "well she told us....". Done through proper legal channels then it's not up for question. You also need to consider, god forbid, both of you going - ie a plane going down  then you will need to specify where your stuff will go to then.

Good point about going at the same time :?

I wonder if strange folk ever bequest possessions to people they've never met? Say for example someone wrote sickening love letters to Carrie Fisher in their youth and wished her to have them...

Assuming I don't get run over tomorrow I'll probably lose interest by the time I'm 60 so will just sell them and book a once in a life time trip to Mars or failing that a dirty weekend in Blackpool. If I get run over tomorrow s0d it.

It will be stacked up on my corpse.

I will be on a boat, sailing down a river.

Everything will be covered in petrol.

1 flaming arrow to the sound of Binary Sunset, and me and my collection will sink in flames.
This would be my third choice!
