Top of the table after beating City, it doesn't get much better than that :)

And it's gone!

Great result for Pool last night. They played Leicester off the park for the vast majority of that game. Not bad for a side with 6 first team starters out. Though obviously they couldn't go 4 days without someone getting injured. Add Keita, back onto, the long list.

Yeah, who'd have thought park the bus/yesterday's manager etc Jose would be top of the table with 7+ GD over Liverpool? Of course I had my doubts about him, but Spurs have had no problem up front for the best part of a decade, it's always been the defence letting us down and something Poch never seemed to address. So really it should be no surprise that finally bringing decent left and right backs in, and credit where it's due for Dier stepping up to CD, has made a huge difference. I don't find Jose's style boring to watch, Kane is like having a new player in his current position, and he seems to be loving it.

I'm not getting carried away, would be very happy with fourth this season, but I feel things are going in the right direction. You can't win the league without scoring goals AND keeping them out.

I do have a bit of sympathy for Klopp complaining about fixtures and injuries, but given literally everything went his way last season, and Spurs haven't had anywhere near a full season with Kane fit ever, perhaps it's time for another team to have some well overdue good luck.

Spurs are still top on goal difference, enough to win the league that is! lol

Aahhhhh GD is irrelevant at this stage of the season, don't you go putting facts in an argument. Have you learnt nothing from Trump, facts don't matter! Lol

I watched the spurs City and game, and whilst spurs definitely deserved the win, I didn't think it was a great game. If anything, I thought it was a bit dull. City spent most of the game going aimlessly sideways 10 yards inside Spurs half. It was a typical Jose performance. Keep it tight and score one of your chances. Not great for a neutral. I don't expect Spurs fans to care, 3pts is 3pts, and City are a great side. I just don't see any change in Jose at all. It's the basic tactics he used all the way back to his first Chelsea stint. Albeit Spurs don't hound the ref every time he has the nerve to give a throw in against them.
I also doubt spurs fans care what the football is like if it has them at the top. The footy isn't THAT bad, but I don't find Spurs as good to watch as they were under Poch. Maybe that is cos they are more solid now and we get fewer 4-3's, or maybe that is just the Jose style.
It's still too early to call him and his time a Spurs a success, or failure, they are looking good at the minute though.

Ohh and as for Harry Kane never lasting a full season, that's his fault! He refuses to be subbed or rested. And he plays all England's games. A manager needs to stand up to him and tell him he is rested and that's it. He has a lot of miles in his legs. He could well go the way of Wazza and be done by the time he is 32 if he isn't careful.

I think Pool and Spurs play each other soon. Just checked, Spurs up coming run is horrible Chelsea, Arsenal, Palace, Pool, Leicester, Wolves.
As it stands you would expect them to beat Arsenal, but it's a derby game so form pisses off out the window. Palace should be 3pts. Chelsea, and Pool will be big games and the last two (Leicester and Wolves) are good sides and tricky opponents. I think we'll see how good Spurs are once they get through that nasty run, so end of December.

Yeah agreed, it is early days and as I said a few posts ago I expect after this tough run we'll be mid table again. Don't get me wrong, Liverpool are a better side and on most days would beat Spurs, but luck plays a big part in any competition and I wouldn't feel bad if a fit and on-form Spurs side beat an injury hit and tired Liverpool, it's not like it's never happened to us before.

I think watching a game as a neutral and as a supporter are totally different, there's nothing fun about watching your team score 4 great goals while conceding five, and I don't think even the biggest Spurs critic could say they've scored any boring goals lately, they've all been corkers, albeit counter attacks.

And you're probably right about Harry, but I can't fault a player for wanting to play, beats a lot of other superstars attitudes.

Looks like up to 4000 fans will be allowed back to some grounds from 2nd December. Will be interesting to see how the players react to having fans back, I personally think the football has in many cases been better without them, probably due to the lack of intimidation etc. I can't say I prefer the atmosphere though.

Agreed, I'd be the same if the positions were reversed.

And agreed on watching up your team, especially if they lose 5-4. I can't say I miss the Liverpool of Moreno, Skertl, Lovern and Mingers.

Agreed again, albeit, he needs someone to point out to him there has to be a limit, or he will be buggering himself and his own career. They is a middle ground. I do respect his attitude but he's more use to Spurs being at 100% in (say) 30 PL games. That 80% in 38

If they stopped counting now Spurs would be champions @weasel ! lol

No, there was vote/goal rigging. I demand a recount in the Villa game. Pool clearly won that. And someone musta bribed the VAR bod in the Everton game. Thus Pool win by a landslide. I don't concede.

Ps, someone bribing the VAR bod in the Everton game actually IS the most plausible reason for him seeing nothing wrong with that Pickford GBH. How anyone, football fan or not, can fail to see a foul there is beyond my comprehension.

Bit OT but shame to hear about Maradona, broke my little heart in '86 but was still the greatest footballer of my lifetime.**

**Messi and Ronaldo only have to kick a water bottle and its captured on Camera. For me Maradona was every bit as sensational and a total bad boy too :D

Agreed Maradona was incredible, although I sadly only remember what he did from 1990 onwards which was pretty much down hill. What he did for Napoli and Argentina, single handedly winning Seria A and the World Cup is often over looked by many.

Bloody random that he died 15 years to the day that George Best died.

RIP

Am I the only one not really bothered by it!?

Don't get me wrong, I don't and wouldn't wish death on him or anyone else, but he was a cheat, a drug addict and an alcoholic. A great player, yes, but a cheat (and I'm not English, so there's no "he robbed us" here). Sad that he's gone, but can the media please spare me the he was the bestestest most amazingest ever ever BS.

Ps, Liverpool were utter shite last night. No shots on target at Anfield against a side you beat five nil two weeks ago. Poor
Jurgen took a risk making so many changes. Dammed if he does (and they lose) and dammed if he doesn't (and they lose/get more injuries) but it did not pay off.

You think we're going on about Maradona, Argentina have declared 3 days of national morning! lol

I never knew Maradona spiked the drink of a Brazilian defender during the 1990 world cup, that is pretty low! It's a shame he had to cheat for some of his glory as he was undoubtedly an amazing talent.

A tad OTT, but then their economy is ****ed so it is probably to try and distract people from the fact they are fooked and headed for yet another default.

That was another good example of a game that might have been boring for the neutral, but I was more than happy to watch. This is the difference between Mourihno and Poch - when a draw will take you top of the league, why risk losing? Both teams had a few good chances, but for 95% of the game Spurs were comfortable at the back, something I rarely saw under Poch.

I agree, although I could have happily shot Lo Celso for squandering that chance to win it in stoppage time. Still, I'm not complaining at Spurs being top of the league for the 2nd week running!

I only half watched it but it looked like a typical Mourinho team playing a big game. Priority number one, don't lose. Very very distant priority number two, try and win. Non existent priority, entertain the people watching.

As you say, results matter more than performance and entertainment. Although Jose's shelf life tends to mean players, fans, clubs get sick of him and his brand of football fairly quickly.

Sadly not quickly enough for those of us who rumbled the wanker early on in his first Chelsea stint.

Ohh and fingers crossed Jimenez is ok. That was one hell of a whack he took.
And David Luiz was allowed to play on
